Dubinsky is a guy you want ot play with, not against. He's Kesler level dirty when he's singling out a guy in the playoffs. - JRoenick97
I love his grit. Don't always agree with some of the stuff he does, but he's a tough SOB and makes life miserable for opponents.
Would be a nice guy for the Hawks to get. |

I'd love to get Coutourier but PHI isn't doing that deal for AA. Coutourier is one of the best defensive forwards in the league.
Wouldn't really work on a line with Kane simply because you want to deploy them in different zones. |

I wish the Hawks could get Dubinsky so bad. - Hank3Henshaw
Steve Dubinsky? I think he retired. |

would be indeed! - Kewl1
He's played <70 games the last 2 seasons. not sure of the injuries, but about what we got from AA anyways. Would love his game on the Hawks, though. |

Sean Couturier makes about the same AAV ($4.3mil), signed through 2022, 4 years younger than Anisimov, better on draws, and probably has more offensive upside than 15. A trade package around AA for Couturier would be interesting. - EnzoD
Couturier is a beast. A package around Panarin may have worked there but AA certainly not enough for a player his age, with his upside that drives possession the way he does. |

Anyone know AAV on the Forsberg deal?

True, but 5.9m AAV. - JRoenick97
And that's the stinger.
Hefty bill. Do you know how many years are left on his deal?
Maybe just trade AA and a sweetener to CBJ for Dubinsky or Jenner.
If you get Dubinsky in the deal, I guess it's sort of a wash, since it's basically AA money. |

He's had his share of injuries and I don't really like him offensively, especially @ $4.3M for the next 5 years.
Now Wayne Simmonds is another story ..... him I like very much. Which probably means Stanbo will pick up Valterri Filppula - RickJ
Couturier is a much better player than Simmonds. And he starts 60% of the time in the D zone and flips the play at a rate that Bolland did before injuries got the best of him. |

Signed until 2021. He makes 1.3m more than AA though |

Oh, man!
Thought him and AA were around the same money.
Dude...that's a ridiculous contract.
2021.... |

You're preaching to the choir on all counts, fatty............ I agree with the C position being really important especially defensively. Hard to cover up a weak C position but you can tweak more systems to cover the D position.
But you have to admit even with AA and without Kruger and the reconstructed defence there is concern, as the roster sits today. - Mr Ricochet
Unfortunately with the salary cap the way it is you're going to have holes somewhere. I'd rather have a team that relies on outscoring the other team and an occasional goalie bailout (not dissimilar to the Penguins). Then one loaded with defenders like Calgary or Nashville or that sits back like the sens. |

Bowman on next steps after Draft

Really interesting interview. I've gained a lot of respect for him this summer. Also interesting to note the comments on doing deals with Kekalainen.

Bowman comes off in this interview as very calm and confident in what he's doing.

Confident - and also in charge of the process - not backing off to Q (which may have happened in the past).
But - perhaps reading too much into it. |

Two things could be happening, Q lining up his next gig or StanBo lining up his next coach. Not mutually exclusive.

Schmaltz was 30.1%. That's remarkably bad. Probably comes with needing to be a little bigger an stronger in the upper body. Will be interesting to see if he comes to camp a bit bigger. - JRoenick97
I expect that is a goal for him.
Also wingers play into it. I think Schmaltz played most of his C with Kane/Panarin, and those guys while skilled weren't gonna do a lot of digging to help a C win a draw. I absolutely believe that winning faceoffs can be about everyone on the ice. You hear things, like Panarin not always knowing what the coaches wanted (language barrier) or you look at the make up a line and I think it has an effect. |

Or - perhaps - Rocky (through McDonnough) telling both of them that Stan will be responsible for getting the players to improve the situation, and Q will be responsible for turning them into a championship contender.
Q will be 59 when the season starts - sounds young to an alte-kaker like me, but at that age, with his success here, does he really want to start over somewhere else? His contract runs through the 2019-20 season - at $6MM per. He's not likely to want to give that up, and Rocky isn't likely to want to pay it off |
