The other 30 GMs would literally march on 1901 W. Madison with Torches and Pitchforks.
- EnzoD
Actually, it is there own fault if this did happen. Think about it, if the rule was never changed, Hossa would most likely retire this season, or next, and he would be done with hockey. Now, since they screwed around, he has the opportunity to come back during the playoffs. Talk about a kick in the pants, how bright are these league suits? |

Noticebly absent from the qualifying offers, is Christian Folin, who will become an unrestricted free agent. Fletcher would have liked to have Folin back, but on a two way deal. The Wild did not offer Folin a QO as Folin would have filed for arbitration and most certainly would have been awarded a one way deal. - Mr Ricochet
What do you think of Folin? I was hoping they might snag him as a college free agent. Not sure he is Q's type of d man. Had some really bad games in the POs.
If Despres has a chance I would really like to see them take a flyer on him. |

I appreciate the info, but I'm still not understanding the rule completely. - EnzoD
I've said it before - it's a league designed by Rube Goldberg - everything seems so unnecessarily complicated. |

That seems like a pretty cheap trade cost for a Top 4 shut-down dman.... |

Sure, though Methot's price tag of $4.9m x 2 years at age 32 for a #4/2nd pairing guy probably turned teams off paying too much for him. I wonder how he'll play away from Karlsson, who impacted him positively a lot. Klingberg is a Karlsson type, just obvs not elite. |

The only who ever had any interest in Grigorienko is Patrick Roy.
File him in the Russian Flop Dumpster File with Yakupov and many others. |

@stevecarprj
By moving Methot, VGK just cleared $4.9 million of potential cap space for this year. That's the key to this.
Apparently they're already in cap trouble lol! |

Actually, they're surprisingly close - $66MM with a 22 man roster.
Lots of $4MM+ contracts.
Much higher than Arizona. |

Great listen, Al......... You're a sharp fella why don't you spend the dough and start your own podcast? Maybe a collaboration with JJ and/or the guy who writes for the Athletic? ..... Bet you could sell a seasons pass for 25 bucks or
something. - Mr Ricochet
Thanks..never thought too much about it but it is an interesting idea.

I haven't seen much of him, but he's got better underlying numbers on a worse team than Kero did with the Hawks as a 4C. |

I'm gathering it's not quite as simple as overspending by Hossa's $5mil and then placing him on LTIR Day 1 of the RS to be cap compliant. So how is the overage allotment during the summer determined? It would seem then that trading Hossa's contract would allow StanBo the most flexibility this summer, right? - EnzoD
Regardless of Hossa a team can be 10% over the cap until right before the season begins. |
