Sharp makes sense but only as a third line, 1-1.5mil, 1yr deal as a "fill in" after they move Kruger/AA
In fantasy world if AA is moved for EKane and Kruger for picks
Saad-Toews-Panik
EKane-Schmaltz-Kane
Sharp-Dauphin-Hartman - Sharp can play a bit red-assed, like Dauphin/Hartman. He can chip in with 10-15g, play #2 PP, and be a vet in that line/take faceoffs....and lastly, knows the system
Then the line 4, get a center/vet that can win draws
Now I'm not suggesting signing him to a multi year deal, but he can fit a role that will help them |

Center.
But....Reilly Smith is a RW. Would love to get him from Vegas in the Kruger deal. - Hank3Henshaw
He might be listed as a center...but he certainly isn't a center and didn't play a whole lot of center last year. Marchessault almost always played RW last year. |

I like that AA for Jenner Idea. AA would help Panarin in Columbus. Doubt the Jackets would let him go. Any idea what LW the Jackets would part with in a trade for AA? |

So I pose Anisimov + 2nd for Boone Jenner - Stan_Bowman
Jenner is a popular player in Columbus, and Anisimov while he was appreciated in Cbus does not have the same profile. I realize it is not just up to the fans, but every big deal like that requires a sell job to some degree.
Personally, I think it would take AA and a decent prospect or a 1st to get Jenner. But Cbus also has 3 other options on the port side, ranging from high upside futures like Dubois and Milano to serviceable vet guys with perhaps sneaky upside like Calvert.
Calvert is a guy who can play in all situations, has some skill and speed and is tough as nails for his size. You put him opposite Kane and he definitely gets 20+ goals. You probably get an added piece back from Cbus with Calvert where Jenner, Milano or Dubois require the Hawks to sweeten.
Still say Cbus makes some sense for AA for these reasons. |

Very nice.
Also, he's Stan's ideal size. Haha. 30 goals last year, too. |

Yea...just got filled in on that.
Maybe he'll develop into a Center..? |

Sharp only makes sense as a utility guy/13th forward. Literally. You can't count on him to hold a regular spot in your top 9. Not with his recent injuries. For $1 million a less as a depth piece/insiurance policy/fill-in? Sign me up. But the Hawks have other work to do either before doing that or after.

Marchessault is probably going to regress next year as he rode a high 15% sh%. It's high reward with some risk, but there's also probably a decent amount of teams in on him so it may take a bit to pry him out of Vegas. |

He turns 27 later this year so there's not much development left. |

How about Kruger to Vegas, throw in a sweetener and get Marchessault in return? - Hank3Henshaw
Unfortunately Marchessault is not going anywhere- they keep talking about building around him.
And the person who said Riley- Riley's Cap hit is $5 mil. |

If the Hawks deal AA and roll with Schmaltz as the 2C, they CANNOT have a smallish guy playing LW. DeBrincant and others of his experience will not cut it. Unless they are getting back a center for AA (or even Kruger), a bigger, physical player like Evander Kane or Scott Hartnell is necessary to put on that line. |

Agree he isn't someone you sign on day/month 1
But a bottom 6 guy, million bucks, get him to play in 60gms, he can help with acclimating all the new faces the last few years |

A heartfelt message to Eklund: Your website experience is downright terrible/horrible/non-user friendly (and driving people away from actually visiting the site). You NEED to fix this! Every other website known to man has the ability to render digital advertising/impressions w/o the need to actually implement an ad blocker to stop your user experience from becoming maddening.
Thanks! - CaptainBlackhawk
I agree this is a super frustrating part of this site, it is extremely annoying browsing on mobile when you keep getting redirected to the ad store.
One thing that I have noticed is that when I open the site on the Chrome app it is much better at handling these ad pop ups than the default iphone browser, Safari. I would suggest giving that a try. |

Well they could not afford him at $2 million per, without question, nor likely Wingels at $3 mil per.
This and the basics of filling out a roster, where they are cap-wise today, etc should tell you what they need to do beyond just losing Kruger's hit.
And let me say this, AS OPTIMISTIC AS I'VE BEEN about these two deals last week, if SB doesn't pull at least one more rabbit out of his hat in the next couple of weeks, this is pretty much a soft rebuild, and the results will likely have people calling for a full rebuild next summer.
Bowman did some interesting things last week, but if he wants to make any kind of run this year, his work can't be done yet.
Personally, I think they have two more deals essentially in the can. Or maybe one, with high confidence on getting another done.
I don't know what the hawks do to backfll Hossa's spot after the first game of the year, what, do they sign Jay McKee?
One possibility I guess is they package like DeBrincat and a pick for a nice $5 million player from some team on a rebuild. Maybe?
Seems to me something has to be done soon while the market is fluid and there's still buyers and sellers—before the market is Tomas Vanek and Dan Girardi. And versteeg (that was for TT Time). - John Jaeckel
The way things stand right now the Hawks will need to replace a ton of scoring and that only gets worse if they trade Anisimov who had 45 points in only 64 games which equates to about 57 points jn 82 games. It seems every new season the corner Bowman boxed himself into gets smaller and smaller. The good news is that there is still plenty of time before the season stars to bring in those desperately needed high scoring players.

I have ZERO problem with that scenario, provided they get some other stuff done, otherwise it is TOI and a roster spot for a future to learn and grow.
They get the other piece(s) first, then adding a Sharp in as a reserve/utility/dressing room presence makes perfect sense
What I would HATE is if they did nothing else but add Sharp, because it would seem alike a pr move meant to mask the bad taste of a soft rebuild, not a team serious about contending

poop... I'd make it a first round pick. You're getting youth, size, COMPETE, a 25+ goal scorer. Wonder what he would put up with Kane?? and a cycle player... a lot like Saad and Toews.
EDIT: don't count out a guy like Calvert for the middle 6 forward group. |
