I still think going after a guy like Adam Henrique from nJD is a good move to play with Kane. He's okay at the dot(48%) and has a good all around game, can play wing and take important draws for Mr 30% Nick Schmaltz. He's also capable of doing the board and in front of the net game too despite not having significant size. He's not overly $$ either.
JJ, what do you think it would take to acquire him? - Bjm84
A lot.

Anyone see what the reported contract for McDavid's contract?
8 years, 13.25 mil......... wow.
I understand they want to keep him there and happy but yikes - BURDA13

So if the Hawks traded Kruger and Anisimov they still wouldn't have the money for Duchene? |

Thanks for the update, JJ.
Not sure the general consensus on here, but I am not a fan of Del Zotto on the Hawks. Maybe because being a NYer, and seeing him on the Rangers, he was such a defensive liability. From what I have seen of him, he looks as though he has become more responsible defensively, but I am still skeptical. Maybe if he is paired with 7 that could work, but again not sure..... |

Lemme look, it is something like that. - John Jaeckel
Anisimov has an NMC today. He would have to waive. He has a modified NTC that kicks in 7/1//2018.
Let me also say this: judging by the amount of trade chatter around AA and the fact that Panarin was just dealt, I could see him waiving—especially for Columbus or VGK. |

I haven't seen this in the recent blogs, but I might have missed it, so I apologize if it was addressed. I thought that AA has a modified or limited movement clause, but it doesn't go into effect until July 1st, 2017. Is that the case or is he going to be required to waive if he's going to be traded? I would think if it is the former, the Hawks are on the clock to get him moved if he is a trade piece. - resqmed99
AA has a full NMC so yes he'd have to approve any trade. |

If you had to speculate on a return from Columbus, what would you think? |

In order of likelihood: LW, LD, C (and I think they'd be looking for value on the contract taken back). But very hard to predict because Hawks have at least 2 holes they're trying to fill right now. |

Sounds goofy, but maybe the Hawks could get Jack Johnson from Columbus if AA heads back that way.
Although, I'm sure he probably has a big contract or something.

Hossa LTIR may factor in especially vis a vis free agent moves. Which is why I think the Hawks likely move a contract or two yet this week. For sure? Hard to say. I am hearing "fluid" situation, much being explored, emphasis on defense depth right now. - John Jaeckel
Great update JJ. I just hope all this "exploration" doesn't take too much time and Bowman misses out on opportunities....a la Patrick Sharp and Dallas. Too much thinking and wait and see might get us zilch again. Many of these scenarios have been talked about and thought about for quite a while now. If another core salary is the holdup, then I totally understand. It would have to be between the usual suspects though wouldn't it ??? Kruger, AA and Seabrook. That's basically all he has to work with.

JJ I know this might be out left field what about scott hartnell on the lw on kane line big goes to the net he would have waive his nmt about same amount as AA. Any chance hawks looking at hanzel in free agency . AA Forling and 1st for jenner Harrington and a 3rd from Columbus, just spitballing. |

So, here's me playing GM:
AA to VGK for Oscar Lindberg and Nate Schmidt.
There's your developable LD depth AND a developable LW/C who can kill penalties and win face-offs.
BOOM. |

I was thinking that too. Contracts are a wash (basically) and Johnson only has 1 year left.

The power forward would be great but I'm assuming would take big chunk of cap space.A guy like Gagner would not take up as much.
My question: does he have good speed? Does he upgrade that? I don't follow him much.
Hopefully we can pick off a veteran D Saturday.
Got to think if we trade Kruger and AA , we get something back and a little cap relief?
I'm hoping we keep getting younger ,faster and cap relief , We looked really slow vs Preds in playoffs. |

Ugh, Hartnell, good guy but two years left at $4.8 million and he's pretty quickly becoming Andrew Brunette 2.0 |

Didn't Vegas already say they aren't trading Nate Schmidt? I'd do that trade in a heart beat AA for Lindberg and Schmidt just not sure Vegas would do it. |

Sign me up all day for that. Does that keep Kruger from being traded, or is the consensus that Krugs is bringing back just a pick? |

That said, I could conceivably see him getting $3-4 million a year from someone. That's the thing, he's back on the Hawks (and Hawk fans') radar because he had a rebound year last year. It's not like GMs and fans of 29 other teams don't think similarly. |
