I have another lower line forward name to add, heard Hawks are viewing him as an "under the radar" target. Will reveal tomorrow.
W/C, tough to play against, agitator, has some skill. Let the guessing begin (not a big name guy either) - John Jaeckel

I find it a bit funny that SB hates the salary cap. Sure he does as a GM, but before he was the GM his main job was as the capologist. - 6628
I hate SAP but maintaining an SAP system is my job. GMs are no different than anybody else.

Either way it is a constraint. Teams with deep pockets, like the Hawks, naturally would hate the cap. - -Doh-
I disagree, I had the chance to meet RW after the 13 cup. He impresses me more as a true business person. I would not categorize him as a fan boy owner with loads of cash. I truly believe he would set a budget and SB would have to stay under said budget if no cap existed. |

But the budget would be more than the current cap and more than most other teams could afford.

Chris Neil? He doesn't have much left in the tank but seems to hit all of your points above. |

NHL doesn't give a poop about the original 6 franchises. If they did Chicago would not be left alone as the sole representative in the west. - TheTrob
Old man Wirtz was the guy behind the hawks moving into the west, after expansion added two new teams, Buffalo and Vancouver. Buffalo fit in the East amd some oen had to go west.
HE choose to be moved there because, I believe, he thought his establsihed club could WIN the division.
Note: There were not little "pocket conferences of four teams to enable more "first place in the standings" teams.
Back when it happened there was the EAST and the West with was all six 1966-67 expansion teams and the Hawks.
It worked the first year, as the Hawks did finish first but after that the Flyers goon squad declared themselves the best team in the West for quite a while.
The Vancouver franchise was in the EAST!
You think they wanted to heap all that travel on themselves?
No, the old man wanted to have the appearance they Blackhawks were a winning, challenging team, which they were...and he got them moved to the West, not some league mandate or vote. He was a heavy with the old owners like Boston's jacobs, and got what he wanted. Too bad he didn't want to have a world class organization, with a real extensive scouting staff, and a pocketbook to find, develop , and resign talent...

bettman has 30 bosses, 4-5 of which are more powerful than the rest. Rocky is one of those.
Bettman and Daly also have better things to do than deal with a lawsuit from the PA over this.
This is (frank)ing theater. That's all it is. Welcome to the NHL. It will be resolved, likely by 7/1 with Hossa going on LTIR.
Immediate or longterm cap implications are a different animal—the real issue in question here—I am less certain of that.
If it was simply a matter of the Hawks not getting cap reilef til 10/1, the timing of the decision by Saturday would not matter. But clearly, it does. I am asking some people for clarity around that. - John Jaeckel
If the league comes out a day after the announcement is made and says the Hossa thing is all good and dandy, the league goes in an up roar. This is all just a fair evaluation buffer that keeps the league at bay. |

I doubt he would offer much more in terms of budget. Its a function of total revenues and total expense. I believe increased hockey salary expense in this model would come from a percentage of increased revenue drive by tickets, concessions, and advertising. As JJ and others have articulated, McDonut was irate at the 2 time first round bounce as the Hawks are built with long playoff revenue as a part of its financial model. Strip millions from revenue will strip millions from players salary budget. |

Sure, JJ the Hossa resolution may come soon, but it probably won't chnage the fact i starts at game two, not now.
I am curiuos to see if the hawks can make an agreemnet whereby the agree on a trade for a rostered player, but it actually gets finalized at the game two mark of the season.
(I think that is illegal, just as shady as the Hossa year off not retirement.)
I realize the hawks are constricted to tardes for Cap reasonable players, but I think the return guys have to fit.
With that said, did Gagner after a chances in different cities and the departures out of them show improvement?
You can look at the increased scoring PP prowess exclusively, but wasn't he yet another guy who wasn't a blazer, wasn't able to hold a centre ice job, and becamse a winger simply because he didn't beta out centres on his other teams?
And DelZotto...ditto....he is really poor in his end, and his former teams sent him packing b/c they weren't gonn pony up more $$$ for on the jib training.
I don't care if he dating Sameulsson's daughter or son, for that matter, if he is not acquired on the REAL cheap, I am gonna say no.
