So, here's me playing GM:
AA to VGK for Oscar Lindberg and Nate Schmidt.
There's your developable LD depth AND a developable LW/C who can kill penalties and win face-offs.
BOOM. - John Jaeckel
Lindberg and Schmidt are both 25, and they are RFA's due for a contract to be signed this offseason. If they sign 4-5 year long contracts and the total cap hit for the two of them is equal to AA's $4.55M or even if it is $5M total... That would be consistent with Stan's previous deals.
PAnarin = Saad + Forsberg
Hjalmarrson = Murphy + Dauphin
AA = Lindberg + Schmidt ?? I think that's a good trade.

Can we get this verified ?
I was positive AA's NMC did nto go into effect until July 1, 2018 . - mrpaulish
CapFriendly has had the details of his contract for a while, but it was also confirmed he had a NMC until 2018 when the league released the list of all players with NMCs that must be protected for the expansion draft (unless the NMC is waived). |

Another GM thing:
AA to NJ for Jacob Josefson and John Moore.
(Hawks have kicked tires on both players previously, Josefson is highly versatile, W or C, good on draws, can play in all situations)
And you save on the cap. - John Jaeckel
Still can't figure out why Montreal who desperately needs a center wouldn't want AA + in a package for Galchenyuk....he would be my first want.

You think AA alone pulled in Schmidt+Lindberg? I feel like Schmidt alone would garner more than that simply because if he was available, there might be a bidding war. Anisimov fits their Russian mold, though. Like the idea of the trade. |

BTW, all these trade ideas are purely speculative and from the hip.
Point is, they may shed some light on the type of thing the Hawks may be trying to do. That's all. - John Jaeckel
Totally got what you're hinting at, JJ...
Hawks are looking to move AA and Kruger for lesser-known guys, but players that are capable and more cost-controlled.
Kind of like "stealing" some players that no one is really looking at because they're not "big" names.
I like it. |

So the likelyhood of acquiring a player like Gal or E. Kane are priobably slim? |

I would have liked to see the Hawks get James Neal, I know you mentioned yesterday Vegas said they aren't trading him but do you think they could change their mind? - BlackHawksMan88
Not impressed any longer with him.... JMO.....
He did nothing in the Final, looked worn out.

The Hawks need to stay away from Evander Kane he's a cancer and would create big problems look at the stuff that has gone on in Buffalo with him not worth it. |

my stab at GM:
to VGK: AA and Kruger (7.5 cap)
To CHI: Haula, Lindberg and Colin Miller (4.75 cap) |

( I bring this up because of all the trade talk beween McPhee and and the BlueJackets)

This excerpt
Capitals general manager George McPhee's face was cut and one arm of his suit was torn off when he was surrounded and punched by Blackhawks. McPhee gave Chicago coach Lorne Molleken a black eye, The Washington Post reported.
The "...one arm of his suit was torn off..." line kills me. Hahahaha. So good! |

Probably slim because it's a heavier lift all the way around to make the dollars work. Not impossible, but . . . |

I think they really like both Haula and Miller. They intend to move Emelin and Sbisa as D-men and keep the rest, as recently reported. |

John what do you think of trading AA to Montreal for picks and then taking those picks and maybe Kruger to Vegas for Schmidt, think Vegas would do it? |

If Despres is healthy, that would be a great signing. he's bought out so he has the cash already, and he'd be looking to test his ability and the market on a prove it deal.
Down side is he could be done for good, and one would think ANA would have just kept him if he was healthy. He's a great D-man. Though if one team can get away with letting D walk, it's them. |

Oilers following the Hawks model:
Soon, the Oilers will have 52.5m/70% of the cap locked up in 8 players until 2021: McD, Drai, Lucic, Larsson, Russell, Sekera, Klefbom, RNH.
that doesnt include: Talbot whos UFA in 2 years Strome whos RFA next year Nurse whos RFA next year Maroon whos UFA next year
oh and 11 more |

Agree. Though I'd take Emelin as a 6D for 50% retained. |

Thought about J. Josefson as well, and he's actually a UFA now.
Moore would be a nice get. |

Well, sounds like soon Kane / Toews wont be the highest paid players in the NHL. Rumor is that McDavid is going to sign 8 year extension at 13.25 AAV. Next will be Matthews to get a huge contracts in Toronto. |
|
|
|
Since the Devils have been rumored to be a potential dance partner with the Hawks, I wonder if they could get Ben Lovejoy in some sort of trade.
He signed a three-year deal in 2016 with NJ and is only a $2.6 hit a year.

Further to @TSNRyanRishaug McDavid mention, hearing deal will be around $13.25M for 8 yrs. Big win for EDM to get that term, as opposed to 5 |

Anisimov has an NMC today. He would have to waive. He has a modified NTC that kicks in 7/1//2018.
Let me also say this: judging by the amount of trade chatter around AA and the fact that Panarin was just dealt, I could see him waiving—especially for Columbus or VGK. - John Jaeckel
Thanks! |
