Despres please.
If he checks out medically and the price is right this is a low risk, high reward signing.
He looked like an Ulf type of player before the concussions. |

The name that sticks out for me on that list is McNeil. 1st round pick for the Hawks - 11th overall (iirc) - and never panned out - not even in a bottom-six role. I had visions of that kid being the 2C behind Toews and really anchoring the top-six center position for the Hawks. It's reminiscent of Beach - but without his obvious attitude issues - which made it all the more strange as to why it never clicked for McNeil. - Chief4Feathers
I remember the Pierre's of the world saying McNeill was as NHL ready as anyone out of that draft. In fact it seemed a safe pick as his floor was high that even if he didn't pan out as a top 6 guy he would surely fit as a bottom 6 guy. ......... Goes to show no matter who the player is he's just a prospect until he proves himself at the NHL level. |

I don't see NJ valuing AA over Henrique in any scenario, so who's the sweetener? - JRoenick97
Dont know. Spit ballin. Maybe it makes more sense to try and move AA back to the Jackets for someone like Calvert and one of their stock piled D. Calvert is a scrappy winger. |

Chicago with a $3.5 Million cap overage penalty heading into next season.
Yikes. - BINGO!
I didn't know "next season" started today.
Your premature posts are starting to become too predictable (and annoying). There is still TONS left to do. |

IMO the Hawks will regret giving up Panarin. I hope they can replace all the scoring that is now gone. - Savoy
To a degree, yes. He was a dynamic playmaker and scorer, but if the overall team improves and we give up less goals, then the loss is mitigated. Not to mention, we needed to do something to replace what Hossa brought, and Saad is pretty much the closest thing available. |

Premature post?
It's just the number that the Hawks went over the cap by last season due to performance bonuses. Nothing attached to it, just the number reported. Chill out. |

The double-contracts was bad from day one. I think most of us knew it.
Kind of weird that Toews and Kane were/are marketed as this package deal by the Hawks. Whatever one guy gets, the other guys has to get, too? The Hawks fans eat it up, too, and assume that they're identical players and these "untouchable" pieces. Always felt like some NBA, " I want to play with my friends" stuff in my opinion.
To me, Kane has emerged as the more valuable piece of the two in terms of offensive ability, while Toews has regressed on the ice, but is still the leader of the team.
Kane probably comes closer to deserving the $10.5--which is still a ridiculous amount of money, you know? - Hank3Henshaw
There is more to this deal than that-- they have the same agent in Pat Brisson-- and they are both the 'faces' of the franchise-- plus the NHLPA has influence on the status quo of contract levels-- yes even with McJesus-- the 'new' standard-- that Matthews will get close to but not match IMO
As fans we should be ecstatic about the 3 Cups and the elite talent that both 19-88 have delivered-- and continue to bring to the rink-- its short term bias to say that 88 has earned his salary more than 19--
They BOTH have contributed significantly to the great run of the Hawks-- and any team would love to have them-- just ask them or the NHL 100 voters- |

It's the penalty for how much they went over the cap this past year, due to bonuses.

Yeah, it happens - but we never seemed to get a clear picture as to what his deficiencies/shortcomings were as a player? Some vague comments about a lack of consistency with effort and physicality - but that was about it.
It's instances like this that I'm glad Dent is gone - I suspect he could have done more with the clay he was given to mold. |

You chill out, YIKES!
Last season has nothing to do with this next season. The Hawks know the situation and are working on it. And us fans know what is going on. This is what happens when you win Cups and pay big deals. All you have offered is doom and gloom. If you have nothing other than YIKES the Hawks are (frank)ed, then move along. |

You think AA alone pulled in Schmidt+Lindberg? I feel like Schmidt alone would garner more than that simply because if he was available, there might be a bidding war. Anisimov fits their Russian mold, though. Like the idea of the trade. - L_B_R
You think Schmidt would cost more than AA? He's never been more than a 6/7 Dman and I'd assume he got some sheltered minutes at WSH, no? .......And as far as Schmidt you don't need a scouts eye to see the guy is a + skater.
I found interesting that Hamonic only brought a 1st and two 2nd's when so many are looking for Dmen. |

wut - BINGO!
This is a new season. Just like Toews deal was signed 3 years ago does NOT mean 3 years ago has anything to do with this year, or in your mind it does.
the Hawks are fully aware of the situation and have a plan in place (or so I hope). No one needs to be told where the Hawks cap is because we KNOW IT already. Thanks for coming in here telling us water is wet. |

Would Michael Stone be a good fit for 4/2 years (if possible)?
Would give a more balanced team and Murphy can grow more into a top 4 role over the next two seasons. The second and third pairing should both be able to log around 18 minutes per night.
Keith - Seabrook
Forsling - Stone
Kempny - Murphy
Rutta (I have no clue if he is better than Forsling or not) |

Especially when you consider that some other those guys were assets that turned into other players - Dahlbeck for Vermette/Cup, Morin for Panik, Clendening for Forsling.
Danault is the only one on that list of guys who got away that kind of hurts. Teravainen would be nice to have but not the end of the world loss. - L_B_R

Also, this was the first time I had seen the bonus overage numbers calculated, so I thought I'd share. I don't get the hostility. |

Some Oilers twitter guy:
If McDavid signs at 13.25, a predatory offer sheet at 9.8 million would force Oilers to pay 23 million for 2 players, or lose Draisaitl for picks.
At that value, the return is 2 first, a second, and a third. Some teams would give that up for Draisaitl. |

Because all I've seen you post in here the last 10 times is just reciting the Hawks cap situation. I guess I should goto the Penguins blog and let them know Marc Andre Fluery was traded.
You have offered some nice insights in the past, but YIKES as a response to the Hawks cap situation has been DONE TO DEATH. Most of us are sick of it and hope our GM can figure out a way to manage things better down the line.
There are moves coming, rest assured> THEN you can go YIKES over the Hawks 2017-2018 season should it come to that. |

I think some are confusing your number with the number we are over the cap already due to signing and trading before Hossa goes to LTIR. That number has been discussed a lot. |

Possibility CLB will buy out Hartnell. If so and available Hawks need to look at this. You see a lot of Jacket hockey, he seemed to effective and mobile enough last year. - Mr Ricochet
At half the cap hit for a year or 2 (MAX), I'd be all over it. Good room guy and knows how to play. Just not a $5 million a year player at this point. |
