At first I hated the idea of signing the past tense of poop(shat).

But at 28, for 7 years at 7 million, his contract ends when he is 35, which is honestly a good duration and end.

However, its the same problem as with ROR. You sign a guy at 28 who I doubt he gets us over the hump and you waste a good 2 years of his prime with the current state of the team, which, IMO, is still missing the playoffs for the foreseeable future .

At 35, defenseman either fall off the face of the planet, or they find a way to play in a league where 90% of the opposition is faster. At this point you either get smarter from your experience or have to learn angles and anticipate things, or in other words, dictate the play.

but with him added to the backend and maybe a 3 line center and one good PK do you miss the playoffs? I could see us signing Bonino... and the increased speed would surely (I know dont call you Shirley) help the PK...

I may be in the minority here, but I hope we land Shatty. Good for 40-50 points, still young, amazing wheels. Had a bad playoff. Has proven in the past that he's a good defenceman.

It is
But it's an older SciFi movie,
so it's not as fast paced or action packed as the movies today

Double digit goal totals and 30+ assists every year says different.

He had a bad playoff, and can struggle in his own end at times, but so did Ray Bourque (not comparing, just saying).

But his PP effectiveness will be limited with us on PP2
And he's terrible defensively

In all the Shatty debates I've had on here...
everyone tries to tell me he's "good" defensively

Well if that's true...
then why is it that he's ALWAYS the worst on his team +/- usually by a fairly wide margin- compared to the rest of the defensemen on his team?
And...
he even gets something like 60% offensive zone starts, right?
Shouldn't that help his +/- stats?!!!
But he's still far worse than Jbo, Alex P, etc etc etc

The weather is downright dreadful here. 2 good months out of the year, the rest of the time it's overly humid and hot. Hopefully soon enough I will be able to move out of the area where America goes to die.
