HaHa what a joke Elliot and Bernier will blow up in Philly Mason is the best by far but he wants no part of the Hextall circus. Condon would have been a good gamble but he is now off the table. May as well start Neuvy as #1 until he gets hurt and then bring in Darren Pang as a backup |

if trophys are the goal, pretty sure the preference would be a con smythe or lord stanley.. how about we start with winning a series or two. again i also would take bob over the goalies in orange and black right now, but that ain't saying all that much. that columbus team was pretty darn good this yr. bob imploded in the playoffs. - joenardonesson

actually Elliot would not be such a bad move. i am amused that bernier gets the fall in TO though. as if he was responsible for their team d when he was there. |

Absolutely. The prize trophies are Conn Smythe and Stanley cup.
But the first challenge is to get to the playoffs. If you don't get there, then no chance at those trophies. |

Yeah, they traded him for a 2nd, and 2 4ths.
Which turned out to be, Anthony Stolarz, Taylor Leir and they traded away the other 4th. - flipneil
Kinda looking like the future outcome of the Schenn deal, I hate Hextall! |

No doubt about that, would take Fleury over that whole group you mentioned. |

"Shattenkirk and Lou..."
Eklund chooses his words carefully.
my guess is that Shattenkirk got some advice from Lou about NJ. Or there is history between the two that influences Shattenkirk's decisions.

I know a goalie who isn't officially retired and has both of those, he's a free agent too!

Again, the Shattenkirk rumor chart was updated and doesn't include the Devils who are widely and almost universally mentioned as the team that will go hardest after him and offer the most money for him. Interesting that every other reporting source knows this but Eklund.

If you get there and lose in the first round, making it doesnt matter. There is no participation trophy. The prize for last place is the same for losing in the playoffs except the last place team gets a top pick.
Regardless of that Bob was doomed to fail in Philly. They Flyers have been a team that are like a Ship with a broken Keel ever since they lost Pronger. No matter how much you try and patch it up, the ship will eventually sink. A goalie can only do so much, if that Goalie doesn't have defensive support it doesnt matter how good he is. Bryzgalov wasnt the problem, Bobrovsky wasn't the problem, trading Bobrovsky wasn't the problem and Mason is not the problem. The problem was rather than rebuilding the D from scratch, Flyers management wasted years with patch work.
Instead of rebuilding the D they traded for players like Andrew MacDonald, Luke Schenn, Andrej Meszaros, Nicklas Grossman and Pavel Kubina. It wasn't until 2014 or 15 they finally started to draft Dmen. Flyers finally have Dmen like Gostibehere, Provorov, Sanheim, Morin, Hagg and a few others that will be anchoring our D in the future. Two of them are on the team and there is a possibility of 2 more making the team this year. Flyers are still a team 2-3 years away from being a contender again. Having Bobrovsky literally wastes his good years. Flyers D is getting younger and while that is for the best, younger means more mistakes/growing pains. We saw that with Ghost last year as he had trouble adapting to how other teams defended against him. |

Schenn deal was great. You got 2 good picks for him even if the quality of the 27th pick was lower than usual. Schenn is nothing special. He is a PP specialist nothing more. He is a piggyback player like Cheechoo and Hartnell. You take away their playmaker and you are left with trash. He generates little offense 5 on 5. |

Flyers: Anyone but Mason.
Whoever it is is a stop gap anyway. We've seen what Mason can do (not much). Turn the page! |

How many softies did he give up in his time in Toronto? How many first shot poop goals did he let in? Yeah the defence was terrible but Bernier was an absolute train wreck. |

5 mil per year for a guy who has lost his starting job in each of the last two seasons (that Game 3 in Ottawa was putrid) to Murray. You can find someone who'll put up similar numbers for a lot less. I'll pass. |
