Do I think he'd help our team tremendously? I 100% do. Do I like the money and term he's going to get? Hell no. But in the end if we got him I can't lie and say my immediate reaction would be anything less than pumped. Just don't think it will happen.

Not much. Petey tried hinting at him coming back to Buffalo and he just laughed.

Was asked about Buffalo's perception around the league now said that it's pretty positive. People like Botterill. Eichel. Know they're going to be good soon and most people know what needs they have.

Also said he never wanted to leave here. Wanted to win a cup here. But going into the year before his FA found out the perception of the team at that time was cloudy in terms of if they wanted to win at that time so he knew he had to move on.

Then Rivet talked about how he was excited to look at Mike Grier in the shower when he got here. And him and Petey descried all the things on his body they liked...

This is true but with Okposo I always got the sense that there were other factors in play like his friendship with Moulson and the fact that most all had us as the lock to get him pretty early on.

While I trust Friedman more than Brooks I feel like Brooks is more in tap with what's going on in the NYC area and thus would have better Intel on New Jersey who seem like the perfect team to throw 7x6.5 or more at him.

I agree that Shatt probably signs elsewhere. Just not sure that there is much of a pattern of UFAs using us as leverage. Yes, Babcock did it...that is pretty clear. But Kyle Okposo probably could have signed that exact contract elsewhere and didn't. I'm only saying this because of the "like always his agent is just leaking info that we're interested...to up their bids".

Do we have a track record of this? I didn't think so. Stamkos signed for much less than we and others offered. Vesey didn't gain money by going to the Rangers...

Two guys from US hockey came into work yesterday. Apparently they were in town for something with the U17s I talked to them about Mittdelstat and the one guy was from Minnesota and was saying how great of a player we got and how fast and smart he was. Just needs to bulk up which he seemed pretty confident he'd do at Minnesota.
