Buy out Bogo
Bury Moulson
Trade Ennis to Vegas

- sbroads24

I would not hate this, Bogo's contract did not have a huge signing bonus.

It's beautiful for sure, everywhere you go though you got mist shooting you in the eyeballs trying to stay cool..Buffalo is a pretty cool town itself, really gets a bad rap for sure.

I think the message to the vets is obvious, play as bad as moulson, go take a trip down the I90.

Give others time on the power play, I think their number would be pretty close to Moulson's.

- Mentalorgasm5

U avoided the question...

Who are u sending him down for?
Bc Moulson was FAR more productive than any kid that got brought up

Now I realize that to u, that doesn't matter
And you'd rather just see a kid play
(I don't actually disagree)

However...
the "room" is gonna see that differently
Especially the Vets

I've said it before and I will say it again:

There are only 3 options on the UFA market that will suit us:

Vanek
Gionta
Sam Gagne

All come with concerns (Vaneks speed, Gionta's age, Gagner will want to get paid for having a good year last year) but the only other decent options on the UFA are either super injury prone or wont play in Buffalo.

- lulags

Why do we want gionta,if we don't have younger players ready in the organization, wow. You cant win with ennis ,gionta and moulson in the lineup. None of them are top 6 and they can't play third or fourth lines

Bury a guy in the minors saves one million...the player replacing him makes $750k. So saving $250k does nothing but create turmoil with veterans on the team. Best to just buy him out
- Stripes77

The problem with the buyout is the 4 years of dead money.

I am not avoiding the question. Mouslon was only productive on the PP. Place anyone there, they will most likely be just as productive on the PP. Moulson had 14 Even strength points in 81 games, Rodriques had 5 in 30 games, Kyle Brodziak of the blues had 15, Drew Stafford had 17. You would be easily able to sign a cheap vet on a one year deal who would be able to play a better 2 way game, and be just as productive.

I'd rather spend 3x2 on Vanek and 4x2 on Daley than 7x7 on Shatty. No more long term contracts on question marks

Healthy Ennis might be able to get back to top6
Gionta was pretty good on line3 last year
Seems we're stuck with Moulson, for now at least

Of course we'd all rather have a team full of AllStars...
but that's just not realistic

Those guys will all be gone in the next couple years
Kids are coming

Hopefully we don't give out any stupid contracts in the meantime

Signing bonuses change how much is due in a buyout. Go buy out O'Reilly, he still counts for 6.7 million against the cap (i believe) during the length of his contract, and then cost pennies when his contract was set to expire. Heavy signing bonus contracts are sort of buyout proof.

You're not only assuming that a productive Vet would wanna come here...
you're also assuming he'd come on a "cheap one year deal"

Yeah, right

When's the last time that happened for us?

i dont see how its dumb. until they establish some sort of contending core its likely that we'll get passed over a lot in FA. mind you i dont believe thats what's happening with shattenkirk but as a general statement it makes sense
- Sabresfan-365

The Devils have one of the worst "cores" in hockey so I don't get your point..

If he does go to Nj...
it's bc he wants to live in the NyC area

He'll probably take a small discount to go to the Rangers though

We're not getting Daley. He's got tons of offers from good teams. Vanek on the other hand.. I'd like that.

It's drew Stafford not marleau. There is a huge list of players just as productive as Moulson

Personally I'd do it, Chayka's a numbers guy though. Don't think he'd see beyond Ristos corsi. Oliver is a good player but probably a tad overhyped.

New Jersey is closer to NYC then Buffalo but if he just cares about being in New York state area and we offer the same money or very similar to NJ he'd be stupid to sign in that wasteland known as New Jersey.
