Obviously we are out on Shattenkirk. However, what is with all the buyouts today? I guess it was wrong that they had to be bought out yesterday? I feel like Gorges could get bought out now - we actually have 8 NHL d-men, with Falk, Fedun and Guhle in the wings.

He's a jitterbug. Can make guys miss when he "jukes" and can change direction on a dime, but his control north and south and of course, finishing is not always a highlight.

Guys like ennis perform excellently due to the unpredictability factor, which is great at times, but holding the puck for long periods of "shiftiness" in order to set a play up can often lead to turnovers or lead to a developing play to simply fizzle away. It's one thing when crosby or kane put on such displays of shiftiness, as they can finish and/or easy dish the puck at just the right time to set up the finish, but ennis was always 50/50 at best. Either way, he was fun to watch and if healthy, the change of scenery may do him some good

That wasn't arbitration. That was the qualifying offer they had to give him to retain his RFA rights. The number is fixed by the CBA as a percentage of his prior salary. It was either offer the 2.5. QO or he becomes a UFA tomorrow.
