ZAR will be their Hornqvist replacement. Sprong will be their Hagelin replacement.
They need a third line C via trade--Jordan Staal? What does Carolina need? |

I actually think ZAR makes the roster before Sprong - stowerkraut
Only because he can actually play bottom 6 minutes and do well there, whereas Sprong is top 6 material all the way and there's a bit of a log jam ahead of him in that area right now. In the end, I like Sprong's chances of being an elite scoring winger in the NHL. |

Well to start they would need Sprong and ZAR. |

Goalscoring and to not trade one of the leagues best possession forwards to another team in the division. |

ZAR is probably more of a complete player right now, but Sprong is definitely more talented moving forward - PhillyCheese
Agreed. I think his size and quality of competition, so far, puts him ahead. Wouldn't be surprised to not see either until injuries happen tho. |

Sprong could score 20 goals in the NHL this year. |

Jokinen as a 4th line center/jack of all trades guy would be great on the cheap, but I don't think they're going to use him as their 3rd line guy. But I think they'll probably still make a trade.
Oh, and from last blog:
Not saying I would want Jagr at this point, but cut the guy some slack.
1 goal in his last 39 playoff games. Yes, he was great in the 90's. But that doesn't matter at all in terms of what value he holds now, which is to be an ego-centric loafer who will still accumulate points if the coach meets his demands for #1 PP time.
And the Barry Bonds thing is about more than just playoff issues - it's about being a jagoff, being a traitor to the city of Pittsburgh, and being a me-first player.
And Jagr is probably no stranger to the clear and the cream, either. |

The chart isn't saying play him on the first line, these charts are ranking the players by an analytic metric, and then lumping them into groups. The top group being "first line", "second line", and so on.
It should not be literally translated as "this metric says the player is a 1st line center" but as "this player ranks in the top [# of first line positions in league] for this metric."
I can make a chart about hits, and all of the best hitters would be considered "first line". How important you weigh hitting is entirely up to you, not the chart. |

Well, that would typically be everyone wants, even teams that are rebuilding, but I don't see the Canes as being just a "now" player or two away from a championship anyway so what's the rush? Not that I give up those two futures commodities for a non-top 4 defenseman or a 3rd line center anyway, which is all Staal would be...again. |

Because if they don't make the playoffs, they're probably not going to survive in this market. We're kind of near the point you guys were at when Sid fell in your laps. |

is carolina looking to make the transition that the future is now the present?
i really dont think they would be too far off if a transaction or two broke their way. good young pieces, staal is still a big part of a winning core, young defense coming together.
still think they are one or two forwards away though, so i agree if that is the plan moving staal for futures isnt the play. |

You classified him as a player who doesn't show up, your words, not mine. If you want to say he's declined in his recent playoff performances, that's fair, but saying he doesn't show up, that's not.
And as far as him being a jagoff. Hey, I wasn't happy with his comments before he was traded and his attitude was less than professional at that point, but I'd never consider him a Bonds level jagoff.
Accusing him of using performance enhancing drugs now? Look, you obviously have a real hate and dislike for the guy so I can see debating anything further with you would be pointless. |

Fleury should be a trade chip at this point with Faulk and Hanifin back there. |

That's what I thought, too. I know we had a few guys named Augustino, D'Agostini, Agostini, and D'Augustino, but now we have none. |
