Honestly last years roster is 6-8 points better IMO at least if we don't have 100+ games lost due to injury. The retooling of the defence and addition of Housely is another 6-8 points increase from last season. Bylsma's confusing defensive system/ switching line pairings screwing up chemistry hurt this team more then people would think

TB is the only top 3 lock in the division IMO unless they get crushed again with injuries

Boston hasn't done enough, but I'm gonna guess they're top 3
Ottawa will regress
Toronto is going to be right there

- Does retaining 50% of Kane's salary mean there's a much greater chance of at least something resembling a quality return?
- Based on me having no idea what the Capitals 'plan' is going forward, is now the right time to attempt to see if Buffalo can pry either Kuznetsov or Burakovsky from them ro fill the need at LW?

There's a lot of variables here

New coach means new system.

Completely retooled blue line means players are going to have to develop chemistry and that can take some time. I can see them making the playoffs and I can see them missing again.

My prediction:

The regular season goes something like the 05-06 regular season. Hovering around .500 and then towards the end of November/early December they go on a nice streak (not saying 12 out of 13 but maybe 9 of 13 or something). They make the playoffs and go out in 7 games in round 1

True about Price, but their leadership's decision making is questionable at best.

Im not sure. I think perception kills things here but either way id wait till the deadline and re evaluate the situation. what's kanes ask, is it liveable and if not can you get assets back and then flip them for area of need?

i think they could score a lot more, dont know how many extra wins it translates into. I think its certainly capable of hanging around till deadline day. then you have to ask yourself if theres something out there for this team. either as a rental thats worth it or someone under contract.

If Washington deals one of them, I'd try to capitalize on that mistake.

I'm still trying to figure out how we're losing Ennis in the expansion draft when we protected him. Then he's traded to MIN? Oh...The small details.
