I don't get why some people think we will be better with these acquisitions. - pker2theend
I think we will be better based off of improvements from Eriksson and Sedins returning to form alone. I also think Hutton bounces back in a big way if they can get him away from Gudbranson.
Our bottom pairing should be a lot better, we actually will have some depth in both NHL and AHL, we won't be good but we shouldn't be bottom 5 IMO.
King is just a flat out bad hockey player, I don't care if he hits. He sucks. Why do you want to ice a player who struggles in all 3 zones and drags down his linemates?
DSP can score once in awhile though at least but he's a scrub too. If you can find functional toughness then sign me up, but I don't want more scrubs taking up minutes and dragging down linemates.
I'm all for tanking, but not in a way where the team ices players who the young players can't play well with if they end up on the same line.
Dorsett already said he's good to go next year, one of those guys is enough. If you can find someone decent as a player sign me up though. Like Edmonton with Maroon/Kassian/Lucic. - Nucker101
I disagree with your assessment of King and disagree that you only need one player capable of hitting. Dorsett is fine because he has shown in the past he is decent hockey player but he won't intimidate with his hits at all. Guys who are heavy in the corners make room for skilled players, they also force mistakes and we have no one capable of either unless JV gets his poop together.

1) In your opinion, what is King good at? Besides hitting/fighting.
2) I didn't mean one "hitter" is good enough, I meant to say that having on guy who isn't that good of a NHL player that does nothing but hit/fight to stay in the league is more than enough. I'd love to have a team full of functional toughness.
3) No evidence suggests that King or DSP make their linemates better, defensively or offensively.

Why even discuss 2 players who don't belong in todays game?
Waste of roster spots & contracts IMO
Thats what todays scrap heap of UFA's has come to....GARBAGE mostly

Agreed
Even in the SCF..Cody McLeod was a non-factor. It was all about skill/speed/determination during that series. People need to get over 2011, face punchers who wouldn't be in the league base don their on-ice play alone are going extinct. Functional toughness will always be at a premium though.
Gonna be 31 when the 8yr extension begins.
Can only fail at $10.5m/yr.
Wtf MB has a job?
1st Subban & then Weber & now Price.
Offence stinks
What an outright moron....

I think King has decent offensive play, can cycle the puck and finish some plays. I've suggested him as a Sedin linemate in the past because of this. He was a pretty good player in the AHL as a scorer.
As much as I'm not a big Dorsett fan, mostly because he picks fights for no reason then gets his ass kicked, I do think he is a legit NHLer based off his skills alone. King less so but much more effective than sestito, who I would put in that 1trick pony catagory.
I would have to look for some evidence, but as I'm sure you are aware not everything in the NHL translates very well to a stat.

big dislike from me.
I like Price (and Luongo), but i would never want to have a goaltender as the highest paid player on the team again.
let alone a 38 year old.
15+ goals from a 200' 3C is fine by me - Nighthawk
Ya, I agree. I don't get the hate for Sutter. He is a good 3C. That's it. His contract is hefty tho. But at this stage of our team, does it really matter? Bonino scores just as much as Sutter. He just got 4+ as a 3C. Nice player, but severely overrated cause of the team he played for and players he played behind. He was well insulated in Pitt.
