"Veteran" leadership for new leafs rookie core? No doubt will probably wear the C. I guess the rebuild is over for TOR?

Complete overpayment. He will be 39/40 when that is done. JVR is 28 and scored 29 goals last season. Marleau is 37 and got 27 goals last season. Jvr is being shopped tho..

I wouldn't even offer him 2 years

he is going to be 38 years old before the start of the season.

Plus FULL NTC

his contract AAV should started with a 3 NOT A 6

Bam busted on your lie Dorsett was never available and not part of the garbage 7

- CanuckDon

didn't say he was garbage 7 and that rag source isn't an insider.

As you no trade speculation on roster players who get kept doesn't get verified to avoid alienating the player.

My memeory of it was there was talk in the media and by insiders that DD was on the list of consideration. To say equivocally he was not and you know better and accuse me of lying is not genuine. You can say what I remember is wrong. Okay. But you may be as well.

We won't really ever know what the if part is because he wasn't traded. But you know his value has declined and after the contract extension and on ice impact DD trade value or tradability is in question.

I dont blame him tho. Stay in SJ for cheap or make serious bank in TOR. Easy choice for him. Not quite sure why LL did this though. Jvr must be going for D

If a Tanev trade were to happen i could see it mushroom adding a winger.
Whether a Sven or a prospect idk.

Nothing fab about it...
Fickle fan overload hysteria
Hammer never got a serious offer.
Vrbata is a goof.
The rest is all irrelevant if even true.

- Nighthawk

We will never know. But Canuck's bust retool plans came to a head in 2016. Not making playoffs or having ability. But DD was brought in to be a playoff role player. Why he would have been considered to trade for assets. Whatever happened he wasn't. His contract doesn't help. Since then his value has declined. The NHL keeps changing to a scoring and speed game. His role and future will be talked about in camp.

That seems... unfortunate. I would definitely be unhappy giving him a 3rd year, but I gather that's the only way he was leaving the Sharks.

Contract is front end loaded. Move him to LGK or engineer a lock out in year three if it's a problem.

Gaunce was a fine 4th line center. Burmistrov is 41% lifetime faceoffs. Not quite sure he should be center.
- Codes1087

Well if Gaunce was so fine at C why prior to coming from AHL JB saw him as a LW? Plus last season Chaput was used more at C then him? Not saying he can't play C but to improve there and play at NHL level you need to be able to create offense now.
Why the suggestion that perhaps he can work on that playing top minutes on Comets.

As for facehoff issue with Burmistrov it's possible Malhotra can help improve that as he did with all the Canuck centers.

I double checked and he's now listed as a C. hmmm when I looked yesterday it had him as a RW.
- SMBDragon

He has been listed as both c/RW. He plays both. From what I have seen of him I preferred him as a winger.

He's like Lind and can play both. Like the versatitly of forward players being assembled. Gagner also like that and Dahlen plus EP. Center is the hardest position to play so having someone capable to do it is better then your pure wingers like the versatile Burr and Hanson types that played up and down the line up.

We could benefit from a lockout.
We r not contending soon.
All those other teams who r or on the rise would suffer.
