because he is a scoring threat at the time?? Who knows - SMBDragon
I'm watching the game now. Marleau dropped his gloves first. Frustration.

You know with JB's moves in free agency we will turn to summer prospect camp. Lots of interest there. But maybe 3 guys, BB, OJ & Dahlen have a sniff of a chance at main camp.
Then second prospect layer is JV, Goldy & Subban.
The thing is before free agency no one would say if anyone would crack line up but how many for October. Now no one may or maybe just one. |

The word i'm hearing is Lou only signed Marleau because he wants someone his age around to hang out with. |

Whatever happens at camp I hope the bust label of JV gets dropped cause this kid is supposed to be a power forward. That's not easy to develop.
Like Vantel said you got to be tough against men as a kid. Few have the build and moxy to do that. As Dragon pointed out about Bertuzzi the Isle gave up on him after a few years and he was a throw in for trade.
So let's not get JV down cause he's not outscoring two skill only players drafted after him. His payoff will be felt a couple years from now. When EP and Dahlen types start making team and benefit with the top skilled power forward to balance out a line. |

I don't like most Swedish forwards. I like Karlson and Hedman and Stralman and Ekholm. I liked OhLund and Salming and the younger Edler. - Reubenkincade

My apologies. I have actually liked what you guys did yesterday. You guys signed cheap short term deals for guys you can trade at deadline for picks. I like it. - Matthews_Auston
Thank you. Good to see the Vancouver Model is being discussed in TO now.

Some thoughts on Tree. The talk on him is as if he's been lost to free agency. He was a lower round draft pick. Not a 1st rounder. Yes, a lot of people got excited about him. Well he's Canuck property for 5 years. If he doesn't return to Canucks he isn't a bust of an asset. He made value playing here. That can be traded to a team who might be better suited for him and willing to give assets that benefit the Canucks.
Also, look at this group of prospects in camp. Some of them are going to go to Europe to develop. That works for certain players and it can for Tree. That in of itself and a chance to play top 4 for Tree will be enticing for him. Right now the top four are a bit bunched up. But with trades that can change in a couple years. The money will be there to draw him back and that goes a long way too. |

They probably will. Talking to Leaf fans they are convinced rebuild is over and the window will be closing so they are all in now to spend and trade to go for it. |

I honestly can't believe they paid that much for him. He played with Thornton, Couture, Pavelski and didn't break the 50 points mark for the last 2 seasons. |

I've got a new line up for the upcoming season
Eriksson Horvat Gagner
Baertschi Henrik Boeser
Daniel Granlund Rodin
Gaunce Sutter Dorsett
Look at how great Van could roll 4 lines
Henrik without Daniel without will be back up to 60 points a season. |

Experiments can be fun to try. Though that fourth line looks like it could roll right off a cliff. Surely with the players Green will have to pick from in camp he can balance the potential for scoring right to the fourth. That's where the new NHL is going. |

Without getting top end generational players, sort of what has to happen. You either rely on a couple of players to pick up the rest or you have the team as a whole. The fact that Van keeps losing draft lottery would suggest the latter. At the same time if draft picks pan out, will probably see a massive jump in points in one season. Similar to Columbus. |

Decent mix of speed and skill...but...lines 1-3 are soft like butter.
line 4 is a decent shutdown line imo. |

2nd best defenseman of all time. |

That is pretty much what I was looking for.
A playmaker with scorer's.
Sutter is terrible in possession but Gaunce and Dorsett seem to be good. I would expect them to be pretty much a shutdown line.
When I look at that roster it is soft. Very soft. With Burmistrov you aren't getting any tougher and Van doesn't really have anyone else that would fill a middle 6 role that isn't soft.
(frank) Magma btw |
