Canucks Army have a very good write up on a realistic look of how free agency went for Canucks this year.

Gagner is a C+
Bumistrov is a B

They point out that the bad ratings come from idiots like Jeff Oneil and Ken Campbell who have had a strong hatred for Canucks since the beginning of time. They also point out that both of those fools couldn't count to three if you handed them a calculator and a laptop.

I am not a fan of Gagne. I think he takes a spot that that he could literally lose in the preseason.

The same could be said of Burtisimov and Del Zotto.

JVR could bring them D depth with a trade. Precursor to a future move.

What kind of return would you get for a one year contract?

I just don't think a soft winger holds a lot of value. His production is largely a product of playing with good offensive players. What did Washington just get for Johansson?
- LeftCoaster

Not much. Wasn't there's cap driven? They couldn't take a player back i think.

Anytime you put a 29-30 goalscoring winger on the market, I'd imagine there will be interest.

Id imagine the team acquiring him will be a good team with good offensive players. Can't imagine his numbers would drop dramatically. He's not going to a bottom feeder.

For a team that thinks they're close but could use a bit more scoring depth, at 4.25 mil I can't think of many better wingers possibly available.

Time will tell I suppose, but gotta think they might have something up their sleeve

They might wait till the deadline and he'd be a monster rental for a couple of mil

If Gagner ensures a buffer and we don't need to bring back the twins then I am a huge fan

I wonder if Van still has interest in Lance Bouma. Van has a good track record with Calgary scraps. Alex Chiasson available too still.

I like Chiasson. He could be a good 3rd liner in the league for a long time. A young player with lots of potential being bounced around too much isn't good. It set him back a little.

I find it hilarious that the two franchises are even comparable when it comes to rebuilding. They were stacking players long before they got some lotto luck and drafted Matthews.
- LeftCoaster

Pretty easy to stack players when you are rebuilding for 50 years. How commendable.

I honestly want one more bottom 3 finish this year. A bottom 10 the following year and then progress.

I hope Benning had a very surprising draft this year and repeats next year. Because of the talent on the current roster it is not out of reach to see at least three player make the big club after developing a few years in the minors.

Still puts up somewhat decent numbers every year. Most likely wouldn't be able to afford him. 4 RFA's and Horvat to sign will probably take up the last 8 million.

Gagner aint scoring no 20+ goals with this roster. Edler won't even pass to a wide-open Boeser on the PP you think Gagner is going to get a pass from Edler or the 4-pass Sedins??
