All the players Vancouver signed are pretty "meh" in terms of NHL quality, however, they'll create some internal competition within the organization so the kids don't get handed jobs.
The team will still suck next year... - LeftCoaster
True, none are really top 6/top 4/starting goalie, but you need quality throughout the lineup and I think all these guys are quality on good contracts.
A lot of teams overpaid for meh (especially on defense) and that's often what really screws up the cap and the competitiveness of the team.
I would call this doing "the little things" of roster formation and cap management instead of the big name, flashy acquisition(s). |

Love all of the signings. Really think JB got good value on contracts and term. I bit much on Nilsson maybe, but we still have some cap flexibility. Bo's contract might make this the best offseason the nucks have had since...? It's already a huge success imo - neem55
The entertainment value should be better but they're still a bottom five team. Which is a good thing. They need a few more strong drafts if they wanna challenge for a Cup down the road. |

Thanks Carol. Signings a good move to help rebuild. Hope you can let us know about Camp Prospects and answer my questions put you about Palmu.

Remind me what you wanted to know about Palmu?
I certainly hope to get a look at him but I can't make any promises about specifics. |

Some of these signings means teams count on cap going up.
The Canuck Buck will likely remain steady. |

I agree with you. Other then Gagner nobody else can probably make the team better then another plug player van already has. Sadly I'd like to see Gagner play 4th line with Gaunce and Dorsett. Hopefully boost their offence. |

THN has us as July 1st' big losers.
LOSER – VANCOUVER CANUCKS
It seemed as though the Canucks thought they might be able to snow everyone by making a flurry of moves. Just because you’re looking busy doesn’t mean you’re accomplishing much. The Canucks, it seems, don’t really have a clear direction on where they want to go and they appear to be still clinging to the fact they can rebuild on the fly while they still have the Sedin twins in their lineup. The Canucks were identified as a loser on July 1 this year and retain that dubious distinction.

It's not confusing. A few stop gaps at reasonable salary and wide open trade options. Help on the terrible PP... a GT to fill a hole....duh... Not hard to believe that some of these guys will be picks in a couple of seasons either. No big signings like previously... seems THN is more confused by ignorance than anything else. |

True as a Flyers fan I know that both DelZotto and Gagner are in a way "Good Weather" players but still the Canucks can be happy as both are very talented
Michael hope can get some PP time because I think that s the area where he can grow
and Sam just need a creative teammate. Can the Sedins still be it ?
Hope it is not Loui Eriksson he was aweful |

That whole sports net crew seems to hate the Canucks. I have never heard so much garbage against one team. Might as well give up on these positions. Pompous fools with highly inflated views of self worth, too much of a joke to take seriously. Good job Canucks. |

Not by much. Miller was our rock and Markstrom was weak last season. Two B goalies are fighting for a spot now. Rookie coach again... still very weak defensively even with MDZ...
These players give the coach the ability to teach our very young players structured hockey.... but I don't think for a minute that it gives us a better shot at crawling out of the basement... none the less... if we move out of top 3 lotto spots because our kids are learning to play properly... what are you to do? You can't just have your developing players chasing the puck their entire early years... you need to put some skill around them. I also expect to lose more vets soon as well. I feel this is LE last season here. 27 is becoming the new 30 something very soon for this team.

We are paying both goalies combined what Miller made on his own....why is that a bad thing ? Younger goalie with better numbers ...upside at half the price? If he grabs the starting gig from markie and runs with it we will all be super happy about that cap number I'm sure . |

This is just it. JB has done a pretty good job here so far with providing Green with Roster options. Eriksson will be better here utilized properly by Green. Miller played 'well enough' in front of a crappy D core last season but still only managed a .914% in an 'off year. Nilsson is a third of the price of Miller with a .923%. And as bad as Marky was at time last year he still let in less GPG than Miller. We're good. |

All in for the #5 pick again next year... Apparently. |

Thanks Carol. Not to put you on the spot. Whatever you find out is cool.
The post was this from your Palmu blog:
Thursday @ 3:10 PM ET
Carol will you be at UBC to watch prospects? If so, on Palmu, if you noticed on your blog video, we raised this end of last thread, he's been used on the point in PP. Could you ask if Palmu could be a PP QB option? Something that he could work on?
Plus we know of contract for Finish league which was done before draft. Maybe if he was passed over again. Is there an out clause where AHL would be an option now for Palmu? Will you be able to ask Canucks what they would want now after seeing him at development camp? |
