I like dummies that think we are building a playoff team with today choices. Toronto media are that dumb don't kid yourself.
A guy like Del Zotto will allow us to make a trade and pick up another piece of the future. He won't get us to the playoffs - VANTEL

But Miller was also the reason we got blown out on many nights…even as good as he was sometimes. I've said it before, because it's a good draft year we will finish 20-25. Canuck Luck. - LordHumungous
I think he was alot better than we all gave him credit for.
He's the Prius of Goaltenders... And we won't be happy until we have a Tesla.

Good so far. MDZ, Burmistrov and Nilsson are good pickups while I'm not sure on Gagner. Time will tell. - LordHumungous
I didn't think we need to bring in any forwards but since JB did, It's not the kind of move I'm going to fret over and do see the longer term benefits.

And somehow they got the #1 pick?
What are the odds that those 3 teams with extremely unlikely odds all receive picks 1 through 3?
Until the Draft Lottery is broadast live... It's just wrestling to me.
Hell... I even came out of retirement to announce to you guys that I would bet that we got thte #5 pick again... Well Well Well...
Unbelievable. - rugdnit
The thing is everyone of Benings picks were good so the idea is get as many picks as you can |

i'm honestly happier with public transit.
I would much rather put 3m x 2 into net than 6+ and 3.
The savings can be better spread around, so that the trains and busses run on time. |

For sure. It would be nice for once to get that one generational impact player, but realize that Bettman would never let that happen.
I am pretty happy with Bennings draft. I was kinda thrown at Pettersen at first. IF he can put some weight on I will be happy.
My concern is that we will once again have the regular season flash that tends to dry up once the playoffs roll around. |

Miller was fine considering the team in front of him. He faced a lot of tough games. He gave the Canucks a fighting chance on so many nights last season. He's far from bullet proof,,, the stress fractures were everywhere... least of all him. I have to give him credit for the compete level he brought most of the season. He definitely hasn't left disgraced. |

Oh I wasn't promoting to bring him back in any way. You watch though- Gibson will get hurt in the playoffs again and Miller will come up huge for them.
I am fine with the tandem for now... Let's see if Markky can bounce back with some friendly competition.
All the while waiting for Demko to step into the spotlight.

It's not easy putting on the right kind of weight in this business. It's going to take some time. We should temper our expectations with him.
Look at McCann prior to being traded... His attitude didn't help, but that kid couldn't maintain weight. |

I am pretty much on board with that.
I just read some of the posts bashing XYZ player over the course of the season and I just shook my head.
I have been buried with work, so I have been lurking but not really posting much. |

I loved the luongo trade at the time.
And i think he was a great Canuck. I did not like Miller at first, but grew to appreciate him.
That said, i don't think i want an expensive goalie on my team anymore (not even Price).
I just don't like paying big bucks for a goaltender long term.
I'd rather have 2 good goalies and allow them to go back and forth.
Hopefully Demko can be good. |

Temper our expectations? I think most here expect him to stay in Sweden for two years. |

I read one comment here about him playing right away or something to that effect and that the Sedins came over right away...
When in reality they stayed in Sweden for another season.
Once they did get here they were pretty well insulated.
The problem with that of course is it's bigger ice and far less contact.
He is going to need some extra weight, but the way they train these guys now perhaps he can come along faster than I anticipate.
I think he is at least 3 years away, but would love to be proven wrong as long as it doesn't end up hurting his development.
There is going to be an adjustment coming to smaller ice.
Which loops me back to my other concern that I mentioned previously...
Regular Season Flash and Playoff Disappointment once the play is heavier. |

I won't hate on any of those signings but I find it curious they spent more on Nilsson than Miller accepted in Anaheim. The rebuild is a process full of reclamation projects and prospects, it will be fun to see which guys step up and who gets moved out.
PS, please trade Baertschi. - Max.Betts
I have a hunch he's still improving. I wouldn't move him. Whats your one under on goals? I think 22-25 is possible. |

Well.. These signings do hurt your teams chances of getting a top three pick a little..
Svechnikov is gonna be gooood. - fry
We'll be just fine in the bottom 3. Minimal term and reasonable dollars means JB had a good day.
If not bottom 3, well, apparently that doesn't mean squat anyway. All we ask for is top 2 please. doesn't have to be 1st overall. Detroit is shaping up nicely to have a shot at the Svechnikov brothers. |

That's why I get so annoyed with him, one of the reasons anyways, he should've been collecting picks all along to try and improve his odds of getting a good young player.
If two of those kids he drafted this year have good NHL careers it will have been a good draft. |

So Nsh picked up Hartnell for $1m/1year
Emelin for a 3rd rounder
Bonino (effectively for Wilson) plus a 4th rounder from Col.
Not a bad day.
Some solid players for a contending team.
They should grab Marleau.
Vegas should sign Jagr. |

I say not a chance. We need to learn from the LE 6x6 mistake last year and focus on 20 somethings, not over the hill has beens (18 goals = 7 mil?) - Robio
luckily a 6 mil aav isnt much in the new connor mcdavid gets paid era |

Totally. I lthink like the signings for that reason: not trying to push for playoffs but giving some younger vets a shot and the kids room to grow. This way none of the kids needs to get taxed with too much icetime or responsibility - neem55
Thats agood way of putting it. Also some will get more ice time on merit. |
