I think tie goes to the centre. and he brings a little better all around play 5v5 than kuznetsov. well except assists

edit: didnt realize kuznetsov was the C lol. still..

- Sabresfan-365

O'Reilly has the two-way play, but Kuznetsov has the ability to take games over by himself.

his playmaking is unreal no doubt. but with eichel already being here ill give the edge to two guy. Could go with either one though

Edit: thing about kuznetsov is the rest of his game 5v5 is kinda disappointing.

Their cap situation may preclude them from getting exactly what they may want.
- kingcong39

maybe, i dunno what the plan is with eller but they could shed his salary. i dont think burakovksy has done enough that theyd be threatened by a massive offer sheet or anything.

But the situation could turn into what happened with niemi a while back using grubauer this time

I'd offer our 2018 1st for Burakvosky and a mid level prospect. Or take a flier on Eller

Personally I'd just sign Vanek but he doesn't appear to be in the plans.

Vanek- 0.71 ppg
Marleau- 0.56 ppg

For a guy that has never had 40 points, or even 20 goals? Yikes.

But O'Reilly is overpaid too
- chilliard77

Maybe points wise but he does do a sh1t ton more than what shows up in G and As in the stat sheets. Arguably the best faceoff guy in the entire NHL.

If he played 82 games he was on pace for 45 on a crowded team in Washington. Would get 2nd PP minutes amd is still very young. Kid can fly

I didn't even realize he had 58 points last year. Where the hell were the other 30 teams on this deal? lol

Washington has 14 skaters signed with about 9m in cap space left.

Good luck.

I've always kind of liked him. Has gotten a better PPG clip each of the last 3 years.
Isn't a plus 2 way player. Kind of blah or mediocre in his own end. His speed helps him. Almost like Samson

my guess is they used a (or several) khl offers as leverage here.
- Sabresfan-365

I just saw the leaked list of KHL salaries, they're not nearly as big as I thought/has been reported. Kovalchuk was the highest paid player at $5.5M equivalent in Rubles. If he stays he'll likely get a raise to over $7M, that's the rumored contract for Radulov. Rubles are a risky proposition at best right now. And the highest paid player was making "only" the equivalent of $5.5M when the bottom could drop out at any time. The 20th highest paid player, Niklas Svedberg, makes a "paltry" $1.3M equivalent. The money just isn't there.

The only lure, and it is a big one for Russians, is going home, but they lose all the creature comforts they get here, like currency stability, planes that don't crash, top notch facilities, the best doctors, you don't need a 24 hour bodyguard here. Even Edmonton and Winnipeg aren't (frank)ing Kazan.

That's what I was just looking at too. Add Boyle and Zajac too.

20M in cap space.

Could even take Kovy back too.
