I love Price... but I'm concerned with that cap hit and term. I would have been ok with 6 years at 10.5 or 8 years @9.5. But the 10.5 for 8 years is rough. The only hope is that the cap continues to go up or Bergevin locks up some cheap talent every year.

4.75 on its own is not bone crushing...But it looks a lot less nice when the overall budget has shrunk with %14 now committed to a goalie.. Not goalie tandem.. but goalie. So it does make me a bit sad.. but sad as this may seem this is not the worst I've seen. I once watched Bob Gainey acquire Scott Gomez at 7.4 a year while actually giving a prize prospect and serviceable winger. That was a doozy. So I remain hopeful.

Tanking (and being straight up gifted so the team doesn't move) to get some of the best players in the last 30 years probably helps with that.

Horrible. I'd rather they traded him for a center than this awful contract. He has no cup unlike Toews or Kane, he's been mediocre in every playoff showing and he's injury prone. Not to take away from him being the best goalie in the world, but this contract is going to hurt more than help.

Few people disagree a healthy Price is the best goalie in the game. Slow down on the best player,..... would Edmonton trade that McDavid kid straight up for Price? Or Pitts trade Crosby for Price?



Price has lots of great hockey in him. He also had an injury history.
That deal at half that term is fair.

I like Alzner in the top 4. I know some people question him in that role, but he was slotted lower in Washington because of the depth ahead of him. I watched Montreal come up against him in their match ups and thought of him as a very capable defender. He's not the fastest admittedly but I think of him as upgrade over Emelin in pretty much every way.

Mmm mmm no goalie is worth 10.5 million.

Getting payed what he deserves.
No player in the league is as important to his team as Price is to Montreal.
Habs with Price = top of the conferance.
Habs without Price (Like 15-16) = bottom feeder.
So he is getting payed 3 Million more than the next best goalie? He is 5 millions better than the next best goalie too.
Next season he is payed 6.5 Million and after that Plekanecs 6 million is gone so we save 2 million already.

Price turns 30 next month. Montreal. Wow.
