And im sure after the dust settles and the structure is out that most of prices bonus money will be paid in the first 4 or 5 years when decline isnt likely to happen. U really think molson has a problem paying 20 mill per for the 1st 3 years of prices contract in bonus money? I think not. This contract is gonna be set up so that if he declines that this contract wont be difficult to move

So are u trying to tell me that a team who took on webers bonus laden contract that is basically nothing at the end other than cap hit and no actual dollars being paid didnt set up prices the same way? You Keep the dream alive that the habs will be screwed with this contract if it makes u sleep better at night

Bergevin is probably thinking of renaming the team as the Montreal Carey Price's ... new logo will be the same except the small "H" will be replaced with a "P".

You just don't give 10.5M to a (frank)ing goalie ... and for 8 years on top of that!!!

Unbelievable stupidity.

Tanking (and being straight up gifted so the team doesn't move) to get some of the best players in the last 30 years probably helps with that.

So true. Can't wait to see the fans disappear again once Sid and Malkin are gone. Spoiled.

Okey Dokey.

Price = 10.5 AAV x 8 = how many Cups?

Murray = 3.75 x 3 = 2 Cups.

Math is strange, isn't it?

Price one the top 3 MVP in the league. Every year we keep hearing that the habs are a really bad team and since they won 3 divisions title of last 5 years... hey but the team sucked but they have Price.... well yes we have Price and we need him.

Did they win a cup ? No, does that mean that we should just let walk away our best player ?

Let me guess, If Price was with any other teams in the league, your team wouldn't sign Price

Hey Matt Murray has a very cheap contrat and pens win the cup... so what ??? Does that mean Murray would have won the cup if he has been with the habs

The contact will bring challenge, just like others big contracts to franchise player, but no way the Canadien could have walk away from that deal with Price. This deal is fair.

Wait for next year with all the big UFA who will hit the market...

BTW last year we read on that same forum that the Radolov signing was the worst UFA contract... we read that the PK contact was terrible... almost every contact signed by the montreal is bad according to fan from other team.

Not that I'm defending the Price signing, but the Stanley Cup argument is borderline retarded.

Colin Fraser >>>>> Ovechkin

Ya, you can't structure contracts like that anymore where 90% of the money is in the first few years and only peanuts in the last few

Do a little reading up on it before posting nonsense

What can the 10.5 million per season goalie do that 6 millions per season goalie can't?

.05% better save percentage and about 0.2 goals against per game

So about 13 goals worth over 65 games played

I'm not going to say what I think of Marc Bergevin, I'll get banned. I'm officially done with this team until MB gets fired.

This is why people don't like the Penguins and their fans. Of course Murray was in their plans all along...it was a great run, but I'm happy the Penguins' window is closing.

while the Habs went to extreme here unfortunately this is the way market for top goalies is going with the precedent being set by gross overpayments of Rask, Lundqvist and Luongo to name a few examples.

These moron owners and GMs are cruising right for another lockout. Can't wait.

10.5 for a goalie, hahaha. They couldn't even win with him then, what makes them think they can get the Forwrds they need now with him locked in at that $$$.... glad it's not my team giving a goalie that kind of money.
