Most people up here don't have central air. 30+ weather isn't a regular thing for us up here. - thundachunk
The nights are typically nice and cool even during the hottest part of summer up here... my house is mostly shaded and doesn't heat up til almost evening if I keep the windows closed... by dark, I can completely cool the house out by opening 2 windows for a comfy sleep.
When weather goes north of 30... I stay indoors if I can.

All 5 of the Canucks top D missed significant time with injury. They have before and they will again. Weircoch is just one depth player you need more. But the plan isn't if injury will happen.
As for development without injury you spot OJ games and sheltered minutes to learn to be a pro. On back to backs or weeks where D could use a "maintenance day". Plus practising and engaging with team is part of development as well.
If OJ earns it he could very well serve the Canucks and himself better being around for the season instead of lost to CHL since the preferred AHL is barred. - Nuck4U
What is your point? let me spell it out for you:
"YOU CAN'T PLAN A PROSPECTS DEVELOPMENT ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT A PLAYER WILL BE INJURED TO MAKE ROOM FOR THEM."
It doesn't matter what last year was like. 10-20 games could go by before a defenseman gets a significant injury that gives OJ a spot. If he doesn't earn a spot he goes to juniors, not wait around until he can be put into the line-up. |

Nuck4U thinks we should scratch OJ until a defenseman is injured and can play him, simply because he assumes one will get a serious injury in the first few games. |

Interesting. Does he think Rodin should be a top penalty killer for us as well? |

If you read the whole post you would know that's not what was said. Obviously with this juvenile response you are not trying to discuss. |

When you lead with "defensemen will get injured and he can play then" as your first sentence(fixing your wording there for ease) the rest of your argument is pointles.Of course I didn't read the rest of it after that. |

I let it go but it's over the top with how you continue to phrase things.
Look I gave the plan of spotting OJ minutes if he earns it. You are fixated on the injury issue. We know they will come. Whether you plan for them or not. But that's not the assumption to development.
If OJ earns his spot then develop him. He can always be sent to junior if the plan isn't working out. The reversal isn't possible and why if he earns it he should be given the chance for the his development and the Canucks. |

In the NHL roster spots r not for coddling Pros.
Sends a poor message to all the other prospects & future players.
Players work hard to make the team.
Special cases r simply a bad idea period.
Its not the Leafs sitting Corrado in the press box for LL's bs.
OJ makes the team or goes back to Jr.
Stop creating a niche that makes no sense. |

...maybe you should go back to the actual posts on what was actually said.
Also, if you retained anything I posted on Rodin, this thread or others, you would know he has to earn his spot or be better served sent down to Comets to prove his game. He adds speed and skill and PP options if he earns it to play with Canucks. |

Well that's the issue. It's part of a whole story. Each segment has a different nuance to see the whole point.
I don't want OJ sitting around doing nothing. No coach or GM will do that either. If he's not playing games he will get sent back to junior.
But if he earns a roster spot. He could be worked in. He may not earn a starting 6 spot off the bat. But that doesn't mean he won't get games or can be used.
Sending him down off the bat because he's not in the starting six precludes any possibilities of working his way into the line up for the season. Whether it's by design for sheltered minutes or by fate because of injuries.
Again, if it's not working then OJ could always get sent back to CHL couple months or more into the season. No harm done. Claim a guy off waivers or bring up a guy from the Comets who's earned a look. |

I understand fine. Your argumentative to no end.
I post many things & i don't expect everyone to agree with me.
I can handle that no problem. I'm outspoken yes but thats where i let it end.
Difference is its a 2-way convo & not forced upon anyone.
Sometimes i agree with your posts & other times i don't.
Just accept it & let it go
