If you want stir the pot edge stick with the ass hat Pratt .

From a radio host, I want authentic commentary on sports. No hysterical hyperbolic rants (Pratt/Botch), and I definitely dont want wishy-washy, family friendly, participation award praise (which I entirely expect from Darling)

We all dont agree here, but I enjoy reading takes that come from posters who provide balanced, well thought out arguments to topics more than I do listening to the same garbage stations have produced the past 10-15 years

I don't see a fit in Toronto for Marleau. I thought it was a bad signing
- VANTEL

I don't like the Marleau signing either. I think the sedin's are in decent enough shape, but they were never super fast/agile players to begin with, and have REALLY slowed down with age. Players like Cullen and Marleau have slowed down, but not enough to keep them away from being two-way players at a decent level. The Sedins can still put up points, but can they play a 200 foot game at their age, with how fast the game is being played today? I really don't think they can.

I think he'll fit in fine there. Especially with Babcock. They must know he is retiring after year 2. Then they will dump his contract off to a bottom feeder. Apparently its around 1.125 actually cash the last year. This opens the door for a JVR trade for a dman. They are clearly going for it. Which in this age of exploding salaries, teams need to do. It'll get significantly harder once they have to sign their big 3.

That being said, I hope they fail. I hope they trade their 2018 1st for Tanev, then fall off a cliff. Then we win the lottery. Then win lottery again with our own pick.

What if OV goes back there? Does it get new life?
- VANTEL

I think if he goes back to Dynamo Moscow, it would help them but I dont think he can save the league. There are teams that would get a few attendance bumps from his team arriving, but there were 10 teams averaging under 5,000 fans in attendance. Thats not a lot of revenue coming through for the size of the league

I think Sedins would thrive on an established team . Don't get me wrong if Sedins stay next year and finish their contract it will ensure we get a high draft pick . That is fine but after next year we should look at a new direction seeing we will have plenty of cap space.

I would honestly like to see them play their final year, on the 2nd PP, and on the 2nd line (receiving 2nd line minutes). Henrik even said he wanted to be pushed out of being on the top line, which I think Bo did last year.

The thing about extending the Sedins.

Are they still in good shape. Absolutely

Are they good leaders. Most here will say yes.

Are they good for the brand . Absolutely

Are they good for our game . Debatable .

They obviously still have talent and game but is that what you want to watch. I found myself bored most games last year . Some of it was painful to watch.

They may be two of the best for cycling the puck and passing but the rest of the team is not built for that style.

Canucks do not have bigger stronger players that can control the puck or battle for puck possession.

If Canucks do come in with a higher tempo game then the Sedins don't fit in. If the team plays a slower puck possession game the the rest of the team does not fit in.

To bring change , you need to change and not bring back the same old thing.

The problem is that at this stage of their careers they aren't built to carry a team but are essentially being asked to do so.

As complimentary pieces I think they'd be fine however. 12-14 minutes a night from those 2 in a couple of years is probably ideal. If not, we'll probably be playing plugs in their place instead.

We've known for a while there have been financial issues with the KHL, my suspicion is that they prioritize their stars and that Tryamkin must've been promised to be treated as such. Fringe players and imports I would guess get shafted first (apparently Jon Blum is still owed money)
- WhiteLie

I think the sanctions that the US and western countries slapped on Russia because of Putin's antics are having an effect. Their economy is completely in the toilet. i would welcome Tryamkin back.

I agree . I posted after they would be a great addition to a team competing.

Gagner may soften the blow of their departure a little but Benning needs to find a number one center soon.

If they sign a one year extension it is not the end of the world but make it a cheap signing so that they can add another piece or two. A younger type free agent if one is available.

At this stage of the rebuild, I dont think there is urgency to find one. Horvat can fill the void, bumping Sutter/Gagner into 2C role until we know whether Pettersson (or anyone else we might draft in the next year or 2) is that guy

If you have one in place then you can hit the floor at full speed when Pettersson comes in in three years.

It is not necessary but it gives you an advantage. My hopes for the next two years is high draft picks and strong drafts. Low expectations.
