This training camp will be fantastic. Lots of new, promising faces that will probably start filling out the canucks roster in a few years.

I don't put as much hope in the draft (beyond the first three picks) as some. My hope lies within the canuck's player development team. These kids/invitees have enough to get them to the show but the organization has to be professional enough to develop correctly. If they don't then it doesn't matter who the player is or how they got to camp, it will fail and we'll get to watch another ten years of wheel spinning.

Hope he plays with Comets this season. The way he plays he's got a chance to do more then impress. His CHL coach, headed to Vegas as their assistant coach, says he will be an NHL player. He pulls no punches there with this assertion. The stat line the article shows is very impressive as to probabilities.

If the kid works out he's like found gold. The type that boost rebuilds.

At the end of their careers he see henrik with greater production than danny.

In their 1st four years here Daniel had 151 points and Henrik had 146. If you include playoffs that gap is even less, 164 points to 162. Go one more year and Henrik leads by 2 points.

The only thing that separates these players production wise over the years are games lost to injury, which Daniel lost during his prime.

I disagree to a certain extent, I don't think this team have properly developed their players since the team had the moose as a farm team.

Kesler, Burrows, Bieksa, Schneider, Raymond, Edler, Grabner,Brown, Bourdon developed properly and none were considered draft steals except for perhaps Schneider. All those guys paid there dues and earned thier promotions. Things started going downhill developmentally when Gillis came in and Benning hasn't made it a priority yet either but perhaps this is changing.

Utica is a good spot IMO, great fans and central location to many teams. It's nice to see more teams moving out west but still lots of travel. It isn't hard to plan callups as long as the team has some foresight and is actually willing to use the players when called up.

As far as other leagues mentioned i don't consider them developmental leagues the same way as the AHL. NCAA plays very few games with very different systems against a wide spectrum of talent. It's gotten much better and is comptable to the CHL now but still nothing like AHL. KHL has talent but very different playing style as NHL.

Only the AHL has the skill, travelling, physicality, systems etc to prepare for NHL IMO for the most part.

But there are guys like Allen, Ruutu, Hansen, Raymond, and to a lesser extent guys like Connauton. These guys combined with the group you listed above is pretty good considering most player's draft positions.

You are right about AHL comparables on travel and perhaps physicality as far as fighting. Skill seems to be a mixed bag. More so when elite prospect players are merged in season to NHL teams. A good sign of development but leaves a shortage of talent throughout the season.

That description, you gave, of the NCAA seems what it used to be 5 years ago or more. There are far more players of elite talent level, even Europeans, going down that path. The USHL is now more closer to comparison for the CHL.

The NCAA has been progressing, IMO, above the CHL. Rise in talent with players 18-22 and not 16-18yro dominant. The big difference is there is no fighting. Why you notice some system difference. This lends well to the speed and skill game sweeping the NHL. Thus, more players are getting drafted out of USHL and headed for the NCAA to develop for NHL direct entry.

based purely on stats and also assuming the stats were correct and not made up.

Regardless danny seemed to develop much quicker early on his career. Later henrik came on and for a number of years now is the better player. REGARDLESS of points. If you only rely on stats and not actually watching play you miss a lot.
