avs are trash and sakic is just awful. i still find it funny that avs fans were happy to see roy go, but i think roy was even more happy to leave an incompetent gm and that steaming pile of poop team behind him, what a good call in the end. |

Jordan Weal gets a main blog on this website, yet McDavid signs a monster contract and nothing yet. |

You're NOT getting Sanheim or Provorov for Duchene, definitely not Provorov unless you're adding something real good with Duchene. Flyers have waited seemingly forever for d prospects like they have now, You're gonna have to make an offer that I cant refuse to get those top prospects. If not, move along. Duchene isn't elite IMO. |

It would be tough to have to come back if he has mentally moved on, but he sitll is a pro athlete that has to do his job. He wont be doing himself any favours if he mentally checked out for multiple years. He would be leaving millions and millions of dollars on the table if he felt like he had his feelings hurt with the Avs listening to offers for him.
I think he needs to go somewhere else to win, he deserves it, but at the same time, Its not a charity here and the set matt duchene free cost is a donation.
Avs have a lot of needs and have a prime player in Dutch, it has to make sense for them too and not just doing a favour for Matt - DDM-Coga
I think the Avs should do him a favour. |

So, how is Columbus going to get offensive help and be able to pay Jones and Werenski in a few years? Everyone is a risk to leave a team. Duchene wants to win and Columbus is close. They need more offense and they can be serious contenders. Remember they have to compete with Pittsburgh. - HarvP
They just landed Panarin. Yes, they're still less-than-desirable down the middle, but if you think trading away a franchise defenseman for a guy that may leave in two years is good risk management then I don't know what else to say.
Of course there is always some level of risk in a guy leaving if you acquire someone on a UFA contract. There's risk in everything, how you mitigate it is what separates the good GM's from the bad GM's. Generally speaking, giving away a potential superstar defenseman that they have control of for the next, likely, two contracts is not ideal for a guy that is a) 2 years from going wherever he wants and b) going to be a due a likely large raise. |

Why aren't the Sharks trying to get MD. They lose Marleau.. or is DW waiting for one of the free agent SENIOR Citizens, Ignila, Jair or Doan to sign with them.. |

??? Werensky will be resigned (don't worry about that) and Keka said numerous times he's comfortable going into this season with the current lineup, Sedlak can pretty much replace Karlsson, Bkorstrand can be a clutch scorers coach's dream. He's going to trench war this if he has too. |

Preds, Habs, Pens, Jackets in on Duchene...
Habs, Pens out on Duchene, down to Habs or Jackets, could happen
Jackets less likely for Duchene, Preds have an offer in
Preds out, Jackets back in - stay tuned
Habs and Isles Trying to Get Back in on Duchene
Really??... put a fork in me... this is starting to feel an awful like 'Yotes ownership and arena news... like the Never Ending Story with lower production values... or better yet FAKE NEWS
If a trade puts an end to this dribble I am all for it...

It is like James Tanner and the Oilers playoff predictions. Says they will make it for 9 years straight and they never do. They trade Hall for less than full Value, claims Oilers wont make the playoffs and they do. |

When Sakic turns down Hamonic, a first and a prospect, and then turns around and signs Bernier, one just can't take Sakic and COL Management seriously...Patrick Roy resigning makes more and more sense. - jimi james
So how exactly does signing one of the better backups on the market who also happens to be an upgrade over Pickard, to a 1 year contract where his salary is going to be a non factor since the Avs have so much cap space add to their lunacy? The Avs have actually been making the right moves so far this off-season, albeit slowly but they aren't making any big mistakes and after the horrific season they had Its an encouraging sign. Hopefully they can keep it up. |

Its a gamble but hes a world class player. You dont sell low on a player like that bc he had a rough 40 game stretch. I just dont see the logic of thinking you are getting a reclaim project in duchene so lets offer pennies on the dollar (no saying teams are doign that, but they differently are not getting in the ball park yet)
Its a dumb and frustrating situation, but if teams wont even offer up the 1st requirement of a dman 25 and younger who is in the NHL now or NHL ready...I dont see why he should move away from that when thats the whole point of exploring a duchene trade.
Who knows what the Avs team will be like next season, they cant be worse, there is no way that can happen. I actually like the small moves Sakic has done but whatever people like to poop on them for no reason bc its the circle jerk thing to do now.
Avs do a move, no matter what it is, and just point and laugh at sakic while everyone else congratulations one another for their rip on the avs - DDM-Coga

The whole thing is an internal nightmare mess for Colorado and not the biggest secret going the team and player are somewhat at odds at this point. That said no team will just ever ditch off a valuable asset without having the GM try and hit a homerun! Dutch has good value and GM's are interested because they know he can play and has that value. Fact is the Avs have been a bad team more often than not, and Dutch has had a lot of bad linemates which does not help at all.
At this point Sakic is going to try and get as much as he can to help push the Avs to getting better faster. And he needs to. Do I think he is trying to get too much? Possibly, but that is his job.
Does he run the risk of having a player who would rather be elsewhere remaining on the team? Sure he does, but Dutch is also a pro and will play and put up points. That said is he going to be happy? How much of a distraction does it cause the player and team? Does it seep into the dressing room too much?
People are going to want a deal made to then pick it apart, but truth is Sakic is in no rush, nor should he be, and honestly this could run right out into training camp where teams see what they have and injuries start to happen too!
In the end I think Avs get some solid pieces and a top two rounds pick, Dutch moves on to a new team and it will eventually all move forward. |
