I would liken Strome more to Patrick Maroon in his draft year. Not just skating issues, but also questions over conditioning (though not to same degree as Maroon). - bmeltzer
I don't know if you're at liberty to say, but what exactly was the reason that he got traded? Was it simply a lack of conditioning and unwillingness to change? |

So where does everyone think Jagr lands? I was kinda bummed from an emotional standpoint to hear that Hexy passed on him, but I understand it.
Maybe go to Las Vegas for a year? They probably have the money and is another name they could market as a living legend. |

That would be pretty interesting. On Strome, I think he will end up being the gem of the draft when you take into consideration where he was drafted. Kind of this years Oskar Lindblom.
You cant coach those hands and hockey sense....but you can coach the skating. - MBFlyerfan
Luc Robitaille was an awful skater and hence was drafted in the 9th round. He made the list of the top 100 players of all time. Not saying Strome will be that good or even become an NHL player but you never know. |

Question! In your honest opinions, what should we do with Claude Giroux, Wayne Simmonds and Jake Voracek?
I know I'm just beating a dead horse but really think about those three players specifically career wise. If Hextall is going to sign the lesser Brian Elliot instead of Steve Mason, or trade Brayden Schenn for a package of picks and bottom six forward, or trade Streit for an aging player without a future in Philadelphia, what kind of message does this send these three players? Fans feelings aside, are these three wasting their best years here? |

Actually, yes. I'm gonna be 35 in a week. I don't wanna be 40 and tired when they finally contend. As far as G, Jake and Simmonds go. If you're not gonna re-sign your legitimate starter and trade away your second best goal scorer for nothing that helps this coming season, one would think you just blow it up. Trade those three too. |

Just want everyone to know that in his 10+ year MLB career, Tainter Jainter is 2/2 with two singles and 1 RBI.
He gets it done on both sides of the baseball. |

A decision on Simmonds isn't required until next off season IMO but it will be a big one. He has a modified NTC so trade options may be limited. Could still get a good return, but not much more than what Schenn just brought in. My mind tells me he's not a player you should give a 6 or 7 million 5+ year deal to but after another 30 goal season, you know some GMs will feel differently.
Giroux and Voracek are in it for the long haul. I would hope they can recognize that Hextall is doing what's best for the future of the team without tanking their hopes to remain competitive. I don't see the moves you mentioned as negatives and doubt they do either.
Elliot was brought into replace Mason because he's seen as a better fit. I agree he may not be as talented as Mason but he's had a much more successful career.
Schenn was traded because Hextall recognized he has numerous young players knocking on the door to replace what he brings. He capitalized on an asset's value.
Trading Streit for Fillpula was a move made in interest of being more competitive last season as well as this one. |

I think they're starting to turn the corner. I'm guessing playoffs next season, with an upward trajectory after that. They'll need those three big time to do that. |

But if that was the case, he'd be punching and/or raping the cookie jar while hallucinating that he was like, riding a unicorn or some such poop. |

Tainter Jainter is a fraud.
You should change his name to Fraud Jainter. Because he's a fraud.
Next game, I'm bringing my "Tainter is a fraud" banner and putting it in the bullpen. |

If Patrick turns out to be the real deal, they're absolutely stacked up the middle. However, they may need to think about moving Giroux to the wing if his even strength game doesn't improve. |

I'm not sure why you wouldn't want a 5 year deal for Simmonds at 29 years old? He's not going to crumble to dust the second he turns 30. I can also see him taking a discount. |

I'm quite surprised no one has picked him up yet. He's far from garbage. |

May have to be big discount for a long term deal. He's going to be 31 when his next deal kicks in. I'm not sure you can take a big money long term risk with a player that age considering the stable of prospects Hextall has assembled. Shouldn't be a concern for a year or so though. |
