Here’s what Sabres GM Jason Botterill had to say about Lehner, courtesy of TBN:
“Obviously, it still continues to be a feeling-out process for myself and Robin trying to get to know each other, but we’ve had a good couple conversations, and Craig Oster [Lehner’s agent] and I have a very good relationship. We’ve worked on many a deal together, and I certainly have a firm belief that we’ll get something done here over the next month or so.”

i believe capfriendly has it at higher than $4M and change before a team can walk away from a ruling - Michael Pachla
Thanks. So that means the Sabres can not walk away from Larsson's at all? |

As stated above, this list is subject to certain restrictions. The CBA prohibits parties from introducing or using the following:
any contract signed outside restricted free agency, including one signed after a team exercises a walk-away right;
From my understanding, this means that any contract signed by a UFA cannot be used to determine what a comparable contract would be, correct? If this is accurate, then I would not expect Lehner to get more than $3m. The highest RFA goalie contract currently is Mrazek at $4m. Then Murray at $3.75m, Vasilevskiy at $3.5m, Gibson at $2.3m and Domingue at $1.05m. If you average the top 5 RFA goalie contracts that would come to $2.93m. Drop the #1 and #5 and it goes up to around $3.1m. I would be ok with anything between $3-3.5m. - adambuffalo
thing is, lehner's salary last year was 3.15m...i can't see him and his rep accepting anything less...i'd imagine that a solid year as a bona fide start has them seeing a number well above $3M

How is Larsson a going to arbitration "head scratcher"? If my qualifying offer is that low, arbitration is a no-brainer. I can only get more. I can't lose. He'd be an idiot not to go to arbitration. |

His team was a tire fire until Hitchpig came in. And LA are the Kings of Boring. We'll see how he handles the offense. I'm cautiously optimistic. |

Cool. Understand. Obviously I'm in the same boat.
But if that clause is true, and they can't walk away, I think it's safe to say both he and Beaulieu will definitely be here and Lehrer is 50/50 on a one year, if he asks for two he is here for at least this season then. |

good point...sabres will probably come in at $1M and they'll have a good shot at winning...he'll get an extra $2,500 |

Like I said, he can't lose. He either gets what he's tendered, or he gets more. If I could have a third party decide that my employer either needs to continue paying me what I am making now or more (and not less) at no cost to myself, I am doing that every time.
I guess there is a risk that my GM has an ego the size of Texas and can get butthurt rather easily (see Darcy Regier and Tim Kennedy), and can walk away, but I just don't see that being the case here, unless he gets awarded something stupid like $2.5 million. |

it's a non story
can't believe it's getting so many posts
if he gets an extra 300 k, good for him
300 k means nothing to a ror, okposo, risto type player
300k is stability long and short term for a player like larsson, like an extra 30k to us "working folks"
gerbe excluded
