I am not saying JVR isn't better. But it's bad asset management and bad team management.

Team is already thin at LW.

Giving up a 2nd round draft pick is one thing to get another player but moving one of the few LWers with that 2nd round pick still leaves a hole.

You're throwing away a 2nd rounder for 1 season of JVR (he isn't going to sign here long term)

It's a bad option.

You might be able to get a decent package for him at the deadline if the team isn't playoff bound, you might turn Kane and a 2nd (JVR) into a 1st round pick and a prospect but it doesn't make sense

So Connor Brown from Toronto Maple Leafs, current RFA

They are ~$4mil over cap. Can be 10% over (then they have LTIR of around $10mil) for the summer, so around $7.5 over. Which means, $3.55 and they cant sign him without completing a trade. Is anyone interested in something like that with Connor Brown?
