I will take it with every grain of salt I can.

JVR and a 1st I would trade Tanev for. Then Van doesn't have to worry about Evander Kane.

Or JVR could be flipped for another 1st at the deadline and Van could have 3- 1st round picks next season.

If Tanev could have fetched a 1st before his NTC kicked in, Benning would have done that I think.

If JVR could bring a 1st Toronto would have done that already.

Toronto wants a good NHL top 4 D for him. Not another 1st.

He isn't getting to 210 195 would be a huge win. His older brother is only 185
- CanuckDon

This. People are dreaming if they think he plays at 200+

I'm sure his bro tried to bulk up for his pro hockey career too and he's only 180-185. 190 is probably the realistic goal

Rumor, Tanev to Toronto for JVR, pick, D. So JVR, 2nd, Maricin or marchenko ?
- manvanfan

No thanks. Not a fan of JVR, plus he is 28 and has only one year remaining on contract. I don't think he would get a decent return when trying to flip him. Stick with Tanev until we get a good return

Giroux is 185. Nothing wrong with that size.

Connor McDavid is 6'1" 190lbs He appears to be a decent player that is over 6ft and under 200lbs. No need to get bulky if it affects speed/skill part of a players game.

Last summer it was height that caused hysteria and this summer it's weight.

McDavid is listed as 200 on NHL's website.

Not many NHLers are over 6' and under 190. Even less of them are decent players... just saying...

In a phone interview on Monday, coach Mike Babcock brought up Tyler Bozak, Nazem Kadri, James van Riemsdyk and Leo Komarov.

“They’re real good players,” the coach said. “And two of them or . . . any way you look at it, we can’t all be on the team as we move ahead. It doesn’t work like that. We have to figure out a way when you have opportunities to do what you can.”

Agreed, otherwise we would have picked Haydn Fleury over Virtanen, Tkachuk over Juolevi, Glass over Pettersen etc.

We need future line ups with the cumulative weight of each line.

I try and leave my own personal opinion out of the equation and listen to what the people around the game are saying about players values. Some I will and won't agree with.

As ASL mentioned above "cap dump" on JVR. I can't see any team wanting to get rid of a 60 point player that makes 4.25 a season unless they know in the future that they may be losing that player for nothing. Toronto knows at 28 he may not be in the future plans and the money may not be there to resign him.

My preference is if the sweater numbers of the line are greater than 100, then you know it is a good line.
