The Utica Comets will be challenging for a decent playoff run, so I would expect any players sent to AHL for extra help in the minors after their seasons are over in Europe NCAA or juniors. - Reubenkincade
Besides the business need to give fans a teaser at end of losing season. There is a contract incentive for players wanting to play NHL games first before going to AHL for playoff run. Plus to do that they have to be papered in before the deadline for AHL eligibility, like Goldy and Gaunce were, to be able to play. |

They should be fun to keep an eye on.
So many parades to plan. |

According to capfriendly
12 forwards signed with Bo, Gaunce, chaput, Boucher to be signed and BB in NHL.
8 D signed
2 goalies
19 non roster players. Cenderholm may or may not be coming back. McEneny needs to be signed and Labate (signed now).
Not a lot of players need to be signed. |

Toronto is a projected $4m over the cap. That's like deliberately taking your pants off and popping a couple of Roofies at a frat party... to take Tanev, they would need to shed around $9m... |

You can be over the cap during summer for what I believe is 10% of cap. They need to be in compliance by training camp (I think) they also have 2 players that will be placed on LTIR as soon as possible.
Rather see Tanev go to Tampa or somewhere like that, as they have some nicer prospects. Maybe Carolina. |

Leafs r 4m over with 2 extra forwards & LTIR relief coming.
They can absorb Tanev if JVR is moved. |

The post was pertaining to the follow up on NCAA or prospects playing in Europe. If brought in their incentive is to burn that ELC before hitting AHL to help in playoff run.
Cederholm has a year left on his contract and was on loan to Europe club. Don't know what they will do with him this season. |

Burning up a year of ELC is for special cases.
Not a prudent practice to do just for the doing. |

Why they are pushing dumping JVR in any trade talk. They are all in to winning now cause they still are paying squat for their best players. |

Molino is a special case..? It's becoming more common now getting European prospects or NCAA players to sign. Plus a team in the losing rut likes to show their season ticket holders a shiny new toy for hope at end of season. |

To me, over the last year and a bit, the Leafs are acting like they are trying to win before the window closes. 37 y/o $6.25m Marleau? Give up a 2nd rounder for Boyle?

Yes and why there is talk of window closing already They were last team to make playoffs. Can't wait to see what they say if Bolts rebound and take their playoff spot. Just hope Canucks are holding their 2018 1st before that happens |

Exactly. Why had question when you said not prudent practice and for special cases only. Just get used to more ELC burning with NCAA players and Euros. |
