I had to light the wood stove in the basement a couple of days ago it was 6, I left the windows open over night and the basement filled up with fog.

also when is it the 4th lines job to score? Its usually a shut down line
- SMBDragon

That's the old way of thinking. New NHL is moving to speed and scoring on all 4 lines. Size and grit is nice to have but a player that only has that without skill to score is becoming more of an anchor and less an asset.

I put a bigger value on hitting, thus I prefer bigger players. You get a team of big players that hit in the playoffs and it can wear another smaller team down and cost them the series.
so we need at least SOME size on the team. EG and pedan are a start. Some big forwards would help out

- SMBDragon

I like players with size. Always have but am adjusting to the new realities of changing game. Notice Pens & Preds beat out bigger teams to be in the Cup final. Can't hit what evades you. Can't wear down what has the puck and scores on you.

Size is great but players need to have skill, speed and ability to process the game at high level. Speed, hockey IQ and skill is trumping size now. I love grit and toughness it's just not enough to only have that anymore.

Notice how defensive systems and goaltenders have gotten so good. Now NHL teams that don't have all four lines able to score get shut down. Only generational players can break through that. Canucks don't have any and so don't need the hitters to protect the superstar. They need balanced scoring.

Maybe JV, MacEwen, and Gadjovich work out to get into the line up to add that size with skill and hit element. But they won't if they can't score and keep up and process the game. Which the latter part is Pedan's and Labate's problem. Tools without the toolbox. It's also held back JV so far. But he's a higher talent and may put it together enough to have an impact.

Geez all u want is speed & scoring & 200' game for our 4th line. Simple enough

20-25 goals is a target. Give energy & not a liability. Stirred not shaken. WALA

The leafs sitting at 48 contracts, invited 33 free agents to camp. Then they had their own draft picks and young AHL players.

What would really be the point of bringing in that many kids if you can't sign any of them?

Why would the kids accept to go there knowing they aren't getting a contract.

Im just pumped up for Del Zotto, figure he'll be solid paired with tanev or Gudbranson.
Also if Gagner plays with Horvat, i could very well see Horvat hitting 30 goals

Maybe that will end the "he's not signing" crap. Good for these guys not being rushed. Maybe JB's signings buys them that time. Gaudette should dominate in NCAA.

I have heard he was doing nicely the last two years. Craig Buttons was all over him for how good he was. I guess now we are seeing he might be better than anticipated.

Nice Problem

He should dominate, i could see him doing what Boeser did last year and sign to play the last 10 is games. Depends on his teams playoff run

There is probably about 2 forward jobs up for grabs this year. As much as people here don't like the idea of handing out jobs automatically to prospects , i feel equally angered by automatically handing out obs to vets.

I don't believe we will be icing the best team we can offer this year. I think some vets will be outplayed but kept anyways.

He still needs a bit more weight as well at 6'1 and 183 lbs.

Other then Boeser i cant see any rookies beating out Gagner (And if anything Boeser should play with the Sedins). Goldy+Virtanen wouldnt hurt with another year in the AHL

I cant see Gagner beating Sutter from his position. Gagner is a solid playmaker, and Horvat normally elevates his teamates (Sven,Hansen,Burrows,Dorsett) A line of Bae-Horvat-Gagner could be solid offensively and defensively .

I think Bo is a no brainer . It would be a waste eating up the second year of his ECL to play on Utica. His job to lose.

Goldobin has put in his time already. I go back to what DCT said last year , they guy adds offense , let him play. Again I go back to Chaput Megna and Gaunce , who would you rather see Goldobin or them ?

I don't like Rodin or Sven gifted a spot.

Don't be so hasty with Gaunce. I could easily see him scoring 2-3 goals if they put him in a position to succeed with quality linemates
