My guess is he goes this year and leaves before his senior year and he takes online classes to graduate.

He's ahead of schedule and will graduate after this year. He could take graduate classes, play his "senior eligible year" in 2018 and be an UFA. He won't. He'll sign with Buffalo after this year and will paly a year or two in Rochester

That Arena is 5 minutes from my vacation condo in Estero, Fl!! Nice, though it will never happen, he'll get a 1 year contract somewhere in the NHL. I think it could have been in Buffalo, but, I think we resign Gionta once his asking price goes down.

I am hearing the Sabres actually have options, but some of the new hired folks are willing to consider a fresh start with Kane...because scorers don't fall from trees, and the offers have been other teams bargain hunting...teams feeling the Sabres have no choice...

Watching today got me excited for the future...it always does but if 5-6 of those guys make the NHL and can contribute the Sabres should be really good for a good long time:

Botts sure seems like a shrewd guy. I was reading some of the trade proposals and wondered why we were parting with him for peanuts. We paid a steep price to acquire him, we don't have a winger to replace him yet and he almost scored 30 goals last year without big PP minutes.

I'd wonder if you could get more at the deadline for a team looking to win now. Still hope he is extended for a reasonable price.

Nylander and Bailey both slide up a line and you need a 4th line winger to fill the void. Isn't that horrible as long as Nylander can progress.

I don't read it as Botterill was shopping him, but rather offers were coming in.

Regardless, I'm glad he's not throwing away an asset at this time.

Blame the Old Kraut, he won't shut up about him. It's always "He should have never been traded" and "Holy (frank), this team is in the Stanley Cup Finals if Moron Murray didn't trade him" and "He's a solid number 1 defenseman" and trade Kane and special teams don't matter and stuff
