Not sure what the obsession with Wawa hoagies is about. They just aren't that good, give me a Publix sub any day of the week.

The more I look at it the more I expect Lehner's arb celery to be north of 5MM per year.

at 5.5 that would make him the 16th highest paid Goalie.

Are the Sabres prepared to do that?

A few of those aren't even starters anymore, or are at the end of contracts that won't be renewed

For one year, 5 mil is fine. Term is more important that amount

I think the max term for an Arbitration deal is 2 years and the team decides if they want to go 1 or 2 years.

I think that's what Dave Davis said with Sal on Saturday.

Correct, which i think would fall in the favor of Lehners side, no?

Correct, Since Lehnr filed for Arb, buffalo now has the option to walk away or go 1 or two years.

If Buffalo elected to go to arb with Lehner, Lehner would then have the option after the award to select one or two years.

It depends on what comparable players/salaries are used.

I think 4.5 - 5 is where it lands.

I can see it being $5.5 for 1 year (if we get that far) or GMJB saying we can do $4.75 for 2-3 years. I hope we can lock him up for a slightly lower price for a couple years because then we have the option of keeping him at that number or trading to another team with some term and cost certainty to help the deal happen.

Sorry late to the party, but the article here about the 2012 draft. Wow, that was a bad draft year.

If we can get something out of McCabe and or Girgensons (I know I just said to trade both), the would be a win for the team. There are a few good picks in the top 12, but the rest are kind of scary. Some still could amount to something as they are still developing, which is proof of how long it takes to get some guys into the NHL.

It is the best to build through the draft, so most of my ideas for trades are not going to happen. GMJB seems to be the patient type of GM we needed. We all want to be good now, but if he drafts / develops well, we will be surprisingly happy. I think the solid / under the radar moves this offseason have been great so far.

How about

Girgensons
Gorges (we eat 1/2 the salary, $1.95mil)
2nd rounder

for

John Calrson (Washington)

Then

Kane
McCabe
2018 1st
Lehner
Asplund

for

Duchene or Landeskog (really want McKinnon, so if we can add something to get there that is not named Eichel or Risto, let's talk)
Varlamov

Sign Brandon Pirri and Vanek and Yohann Auvitu (D) to one year deals.

Let's go!

IMO that's way to much to give up for a team that doesn't have a great foundation to begin with. Varly is worse than Lehner and makes 5.9 mill, no thanks. With Jack, ROR and maybe Sam he have our top three centres, no need for Duch, and that's way to much to give for Landy, might as well keep Kane and Lehner, they are better players (maybe not Kane), but Landy is not heads and shoulders better than Kane IMO.

That trade proposal is (frank)ing bananas.

45 point Landeskog for 50 point Kane, 2018 1st, a starting goalie, a top propsect and a top 4 dman.

Taylor Hall was traded for top 4 Adam Larsson. That is all.

Kane is a better player than Landeskog.

Agree, there is nothing we gain from that trade other than losing a lot of depth. We already have Duchy and Landy type players.

It's clear no GM in the league is paying top dollar for the likes of Matt Duchene. He's a great player, but I think we already have him in Sam Reinhart

That take isn't scolding hot.

Yea I agree that might be too much to give up, but I think I was framing that to get McKinnon and then changed it. I am not sure McKinnon is worth that either, just imagine him with Eichel and I go bananas.

I think the best move is to not make a move at this point. I just think we all want change, but I need to stay patient. I think I want a new top end winger for Eichel so bad.

I dont want to trade Reinhart at all, but getting another Reinhart cant hurt. I do think it is hard to play with Kane cause he just throws pucks at the net and does weird things, but if the chemistry can get there, he could be our Kessel on the 3rd line. I still think getting Eichel a top end sniper would be amazing. Maybe I am describing Nylander and should be patient.
