Currently with about 3 mil in cap space and Tatar and Athanasiou still not signed.

Mantha and Larkin are their only decent kids and they need to get paid after next year, mind you, there's no money coming off the books then either. I love it, i hate the Wings and it looks like they're doomed for the next decade.

Doesn't MTL have something like THE worst ratio of their last 60 draft picks to those players that have actually made the NHL? I heard it was pretty bad...

They really only have a few prospects that look good now that Sergachev is gone. Juulson, Sherbak and Mete and Lehkonen was a big surprise last season.

Those factors and the Price contract. I'm confident that will haunt the franchise for the length of the contract.

I am not sure if I would say doomed, but they are in trouble if they cant acquire young D any time soon. Up front they have a solid cast of young NHL bodies in Nyqvist, Larkin, Tatar, Mantha, Athanasiou, Sheahan, not great but solid

They went for it at the start of last year, if they decide to start selling they could recover faster, but I do see them holding out like VAN did until its too late

No they really don't, they have 4-5 decent forwards and zero defense. They havent drafted well/mixed with their playoff streak has hurt them. Nyqvist had two good years and now two mediocre years and he's 27, he's gonna be long past his prime once they get anyone to help him. Sheahan is terrible, he scored 2 goals in 80 games, he's their Gaunce. There have zero prospects to be excited about. Its awesome. They've waited WAY too long to rebuild and relied on the aging Euro core that are also in rough shape physically. Its ok man, just sit back and watch their train wreck.

I dont think they wait too long to start the rebuild, I think prospects they were developing didnt pan out as well as they hoped. They could easily turn this around by selling parts, but like I said I think they will be like VAN and be worse for it in the long run
