Given his pace of 6 points per full season, he will need to play more than 16 seasons in his career to hit that number - WhiteLie
I covered this a few days ago. I honestly believe Guance can score 2-3 goals this season if he sees significant PP time. Add in a few secondary assists and a primary assist and it's idiotic to think he can't get 7-9 points. Give your head a shake Whitey
Ryan Johnson wasn't a fan favorite, but he was a favorite of the coaching staff. He was considered a great defensive forward and good on killing penalties.

I suspect your prediction will be true, only because his games played will increase from last season. The numbers dont lie, Gaunce will have a flat career trajectory, 6 points every 82 games. No prime, no slump, just Gaunce

hahaha for real? Where can I find those stats??
They really only have a few prospects that look good now that Sergachev is gone. Juulson, Sherbak and Mete and Lehkonen was a big surprise last season. - Brooks_Light
Someone mentioned it to me last week not sure if it's accurate or not…something like only 6 of their last 60 draft picks have seen the NHL…if that's true that's brutal.

7 of their past 25ish picks (not including 2017) have played an NHL game, but not much and not sure how many were actually played with Montreal. They had one hell of a 2007 draft though

Gaunce is an AHL lifer, not good enough defensively to make up for the fact that he produces NOTHING offensively. He well be Europe- bound by the end of the season after the forward depth we acquired this summer/better prospects competing for spots.
Gaunce only ever looked like a good prospect because our prospect pool was awful for a long time. It's time to drop him like Jensen/Shinkaruk.

Gaunce can still help Utica but agreed, he likely doesn't have an NHL future.

The fact that he switches from wing to centre every other season probably hasn't helped him much. The only way I see him staying in the league and being effective is to go back to Centre and becoming great at face-offs.
Cole Cassels ( a player that used to really intrigue me) is going down the same route.

I always knew Cole was a garbage prospect from the first time I saw him play in junior. Slowest player on the ice in junior for (frank)sakes. I don't understand how he ever received hype

I'll take the over on that bet.
5 players scored more points than Gaunce who played less minutes per game and only 8 players outscored him who averaged up 30 seconds more ice time per game.
17 players basically outscored Gaunce last year in the NHL while playing similar minutes. Not bad for a rookie who despite not scoring was doing some other good things on the ice.
Like it or not Gaunce is the only player this mgmt has allowed to follow a regular development path so far and while it might not be quick enough for some, this is the usual path for prospects.

Solid thesis Belcher but let me remind you he couldn't score ONE goal

If we were looking at the same lineup as last year, I probably would take the over on 9 points, but with the additions in camp - Gagner, Burmistrov, and I'll count Boeser, Rodin, Molino and even Goldobin in that group since they were barely there last year and he has a lot of bodies to beat out for opportunity.
Even if those guys dont make the team out of camp, I think they get the injury call up and get placed on PP and scoring lines before Gaunce gets a sniff
EDIT: And lets not forget, his ONE career goal bounced in off him. He has never shot a puck in the net during an NHL game

I'm sure I can find some examples of players that went on to have solid careers after only putting up 1 goal in their first 80 games.
I agree with what you are saying about the competition though, Gaunce if he makes the team will not be given offensive opportunities over the names you mentioned. That said Gaunce broke out for Green offensively when he was shifted back to C in UTica when they were devastated with injuries. I think he gets a chance to play with some actual NHL talent rather than Chaput/Skille/Megna and we get a better idea of if he can contribute offensively.
It will be interesting to see how Green's relationship with guys like Gaunce, Baertschi, Beiga, Pedan, Subban will influence their opportunities.

Totally, I just thought it was a funny side note that he has not shot a puck in the net yet.
If it happens I think, like Utica, it will take him a few seasons to get comfortable and work his way into a role where he could put up some offense. When I watched him last year he didnt look comfortable, lots of skating in circles and chasing pucks. Once he catches onto the pace and can make better reads, he could possibly produce
