Life like hockey is neither black nor white, rather shades of grey viewed through the context of a specific time and place. No matter the depth of hate for Terry Murray, who made decisions based on what he perceived to be most beneficial for the Buffalo Sabres , even if solely for self-serving reasons. If you truly need to critique a rookie GM in the NHL expect to find a few errors. It's only when the same errors are ignored hindering growth/experience of both GM, staff, players does a discussion on replacement arise, hence it was only logical and rationale to relieve Terry Murray/staff from their positions.
After a little back reading and deciding to skip the rest when it comes to Lehner:
The Sabres get to pick the term when it comes to arbitration. Meaning they will elect for the 1 year deal so when that contract expires Lehner is still a RFA and they control his rights.
If it is a 2 year deal that would take him to UFA status. If the Sabres are unsure of what they have in him there is no way they don't do a 1 year deal. My guess is that is what is holding up his contract to begin with.
I still think he gets between $4.5-$5.5 in arbitration but I wouldn't be surprised if it is in the $5.5-$6 million range.
1 year prove it deal, sink or swim. - Stripes77
Hmm.. I didn't think of the RFA thing still there after one more year. Seems like a good reason to actually let it go to arbitration, considering even if Lehner gets a favorable judgment, we have plenty of cap to handle it.

I think GMTM did a good job (I like his trades more than most), and we all liked him for his non-filter. His greatest failure, and probably should have been the easiest thing for him to fix, was his disaster in Rochester.

I think if he did a great job, we would have been sniffing a playoff spot last year, not taking a step back
his first few drafts blah
his last draft looks decent
brutal at fixing the d
honestly, it was as if he was in panic mode the last 12 months here
He has another year. Im guessing he will finish but id like to see him signed - MCGUIZZY
you mean another one after this season? Thought this coming season was his last but i think hed sign after this year either way assuming he had another good to great season
