throw in a 5.5 mil arbitration award on top of it - homiedclown
Well so far, Lehner is the only asset in that trade that's currently an impact NHL player. Until that changes, we won the trade. I'm not tied to him for the long term, but he stabilizes the goalie situation for the short to medium term |

Nothing that hurt us so far. KHLer's and AHLers be damned. - Der Kaiser
aside from eichel, which stevie wonder knew to draft
what did he do?
yeah he had an ok draft class in 2016, but the other 2 draft classes were blah blah blah |

Well, due to years of lackluster drafting, 2012 I guess was the first useful year we actually got guys from. 2014 is TBD but doesn't look promising. So that gives us 12, 13, 15.. (16/17 exempt from this example).
Sam and Jack skipped the farm essentially. Grigorenko was a bust/trade chip, Girgensons was not drafted for his elite skills or lack thereof, Compher/Zadorov traded. So really the best talent didn't marinate in the AHL. That, combined with the inability to find more quality late rounders has burned the system. Truth be told it looks a lot better today than it did before the 2016 draft. - TheSabresTaco

Travis Konecny, Colin White,
Ilya Samsonov, Noah Juulsen
Jeremy Roy, Sebastian Aho
one of those would have served us better IMO long term |

Yeah, who knows who we would have picked so it's mostly a speculative exercise, but if you look at it as drafting a goalie with a .920 save percentage, it's not a bad use of murrancy

no, he was handed a wet dream with picks, prospects
the only d man, developed that is fringe ready under him is guhle
really no other blue chip d prospects, cept for maybe borgen
overpaid for fasching in a trade, has done nothing
overpaid for lehner
gave away a lot of picks with nothing to show cept kane and ror
missed the boat on kulikov, maybe asplund can salvage that trade
moulson and bogo contracts hurt us
okposo may long term
after 3 and a half seasons, we were not close to sniffing the playoffs and got worse this past season
the good, he locked ror up for 7 years
of course the first year of that deal was a waste - homiedclown
two things:
--Brayden mcnabb is barreling towards fringe nhl status and is now with an expansion team
--kane and o'reilly are top six players
and...
just an fyi...
randy sexton drafted and signed Dmitry Kulikov....
oh, and btw, he was selected on pick behind zack kassian

Yeah. The Gorges trade and the Moulson deal is what hurts us most at the moment imo - jcragcrumple
gorges and Moulson were brought on board for veteran leadership with thoughts they'd contribute after the tank...unfortunately, the latter half never came to fruition |

And Hudson Fasching has proven exactly zilch three years later.
So that sounds like it would have been a fair 1 for 1 swap to me. Instead of, you know giving them 2 2nd rounders on top of that.
Anyone here excited about Cliff Pu or Brendan Guhle, cannot in their right mind defend the multiple 1sts, 2nd's and 3rd's moved by Murray |

lehner's an nhl starter, for a comparable we're looking for one of those to at least become a top-six forward or top-four d-man |

mcnabb is five years older than Fasching, and those two second rounders were la's picks we received in the robyn regehr trade...
as for the last comment, the old saying goes, a bird in the hand (o'reilly, kane, Lehner) is worth two in the bush (all those draft picks) |

US Grant was the Derek Grant of that war. You don't want to keep putting him back in, you just have no better option |

Lee was a superior executive officer to any Union general, but he was not provided sufficient resources to sustain the war. He has a smaller population to draw an army from, and once the naval blockade impaired the south's ability to export raw materials, its economy began to wither. Add to that the reality that the battles occurred on southern soil and largely decimated the agriculture that might have otherwise sustained the rebel forces, and it was just a pure battle of attrition.

I get it...but i'm in more of a wait and see mode...again, if one of the picks traded away ends up being as good as or better than the player murray traded for, i'm with ya...
just too early to tell |

Agree If we drafted a goalie in spot that had a 920 sv% and played like Lehner has no one, would be complaining, Lehner trade does not bother me in least.
