Not sure if this is just in jest or if there is an air of seriousness with McDonough's comment about Soupy (I assume that comment is about Campbell).

Mark Lazerus‏Verified account @MarkLazerus

McDonough mentions how Luc Robitaille became president of the Kings. "There's a very good chance today I hired my replacement."

I was on the Schmaltz train until another poster provided a link to his Instagram and the first shot was Nicky Boy in swim trunks this past May. Yikes.

That kid needs to get really serious about training. He has NHL talent but a house league Midget body at this point. He literally looks like he's never picked up a weight.

I think Raddysh as an NHL piece this year is probably a pipe dream.

The guy I am anxious to see, if/when he's fully healthy is Fortin, because he looked every bit ready last year, then got hurt after he was sent down, had a "minor" surgery recently that is holding him out of prospect camp.

Dauphin, yes. Hoping he can be a revelation on the PK, certainly has the tools and the mentlity to be that.

Hayden? Not sure where he slots in this year, NHL or AHL. But yeah, over time, anxious to see what he can become. The concussion in the playoffs HAS to be at least a minor concern because you need him to be a physical factor or he will just be another Hugh Jessiman.

Sikura is intriguing to me because I continue to hear good things about him.

I dunno, to me, like I said, the guy I am most excited about right now is Fortin, assuming he is healthy when pro camp starts.

Agree John, on Schmaltz, I don't want to be right on this one, but something is telling me when its all said and done regarding Schmaltz and Debrincat, the old phrase " told ya so"!
If Bowman is serious about a kid like Duchene or whom ever, I hope both of these guys are totally in play !

Their last game was April 20th, and that picture is from May. I imagine he took a bit of time off after the season.

I haven't seen the picture and am not sure when in May it's from, but not sure how much muscle he was supposed to pack on after the season ended in a few short weeks. Perhaps his offsetson program hadn't started.

I'm not sure where Nick slots this year, But I thought his speed and back checking looked solid last year and should only get better. His passing is somewhere between very good and elite. He was moved all up and down the lineup so I think this year he will better. My guess is 15 goals 27 assists (16 primary) assuming 80 games.

People talk about giving him up but the hawks could not afford Duchene unless COL retained money. Lets call Nick a 35-40 pt top 9. You are paying him $925 for 2 more years. Duchene lets call 50-55 and you are paying him $6. Bottom line is the hawks need to add a cheaper LW like Kane who will cost 1/2 of what Duchene and then let Schmaltz and Hartman slot on the 3rd line and now you have 3 lines that can score.

BTW here is a list of waiver Exmept players: One thing of note is Hartman. Kero, Jurco are not on it so I would be shocked if they are not on the opening day roster of 13.

Also Pokka is not on there, So I would think he might make the team if he has a good camp. As I look at the above barring anything dramatic I would say Tootoo is destined for Rockford for sure. No idea if Roz is in the top 7. He should not be. If he plays in the playoffs then we are not good enough to get out of the 1st round.

Powers:

Sikura just scored to end a 3-on-3 scrimmage. In my opinion, he's been the most impressive forward so far in the camp.

Sikura is a late bloomer, but the potential is there for him to go the Kevin Hayes route too. So keep an eye on that.

Please do not feed the bears! I love it when these blogs devolve into JJ back and forth with various posters on workout routines and diet supplements! Let's just pull 'em out, put 'em on the table and see who's is larger!

the one thing in hawks favor is he could burn 1 year of his ELC by signing with hawks and would have a 2 year ELC with any other team.

Sure. I know nothing about the kid, other than the fact he was a lower round draft pick, then has gone off to college and is becoming a legitimate prospect. The Hawks have a few of these guys who they hope will ripen in college.

You never know until they announce either way, but Hayden and Louis maintained all along they would sign here and did.

Sikura has no ties to the Hayes Bros or the Wayne Gretzky of the Swiss League, so I'd be surprised if he went the Hayes route. Hayes' decision on the other hand was suspected for a while, so like you said, something to monitor in the Spring.

Yea just saying!! Not sure we're losing the 2nd coming here, but I generally like players who advance like Dylan is advancing. It tells me they work hard to get better and likely has upside to improve even more. I am wary about players who stagnate. That's not the case with Dylan. Whether he has top 6 potential down the line that's certainly debatable, but he looks like he could have a future in the NHL one day, at some level.

I could see that on Schmaltz and could also see Sharp 2LW to start the season or possibly a rookie forward out of camp.

Alomost anyone can be traded or is replaceable but in the case of Hartman and Schmaltz I don't think there are ready replacements at the Rock this season.

Jesus.

Well, we know who's gonna win the Hawks' Mr. Olympia anyway, LOL

Damn, that dude is jacked.

Two old timers with unbelievable physiques, the Golden Jet and Mr. Hockey (who had trapezius' like mountains)

- John Jaeckel

Nick Leddy was surprisingly ripped up. Like a lil Hossa.

Its actually pretty amazing how slight most of those hockey players are. I ran into Scott Darling in the UC and he is built more like a yoga instructor than a professional athlete. Jonathan Toews isn't "big" as well. You'd think some of these dudes would want to carry a bit more in the shoulders.

Have only seen a few clips but from everything I've read, the Hawks have always liked his skill but were worried about him filling out his frame.

Like you mention it does sound like he's even improved and was certainly worth a 6th round pick in terms of risk/reward.
