We have better odds Rodin Burmistrov or Boucher could be flipped. |

Reclamation players get extensions usually before hitting TDL value status. |

I cannot & will not wrap my head around a team such as ours in rebuild mode & pain for a few years cares about anymore plugs being added.
Chaput Megna Gaunce r already Utica material.
Gaunce can up his status if he can find some offense.
Waste of time thinking we need a plug when we can pump up what we have.
U luv your rhetoric. Supply names. None of this reclamation fabrication bunk. |

Burmistrov, Rodin, Weircioch, Biega, and any other player on expiring contracts (excluding the obvious) can be dumped for picks if necessary. Hell, even guys with an additional year left. The team has more to clean out, and very few at this point are considered core pieces going forward |

Resigning Rodin its apparent he gets one last shot to show he is a legit NHLer.
Boucher if signed also needs to show he can score. Ups his stock if he does.
There r only so many roster spots & none to waste on hypotheticals.
Players like JV & Goldy can earn spots if not plugged by duds.
A deeper Utica means opportunity for call ups.
Adding another plug is useless. |

Like I said I prefer the propect roster development route but recognize that there is the cap room option of pump and dump.
Not having a scouting staff handy a couple that may fit the bill is Vanek, Paranteau & Oduya. |

Thats right & why plugs r senseless while we remake the core & future. |

Cap space is valuable & not to be wasted for the sake of using it.
TDL time it can come in very handy. |

The plugs are there as place holders for a year or two so your not dressing a team full of prospects who aren't NHL ready ...keeping as many of your future core that have been recently drafted away from the team until they are ready or the team is good is a smart move |

Agreed, but with the additions of Gagner, Burmistrov and Rodin up front, and Del Zotto/Weircioch to last year's group, I think that has been done.
Realistically the Sedins, LE, Horvat, Sven, Granlund, Sutter, Gagner, Dorsett take up 9 spots. Boeser should be 10, then 2 spots between the remainder is sufficient protection IMO. Likewise top-8 D are relatively set unless someone blows them away in camp and earns a spot |

Forgetting the past & the present dog days of summer....
Its very possible TG & staff can make a significant mark on the team.
Thats not to say its magic overnight but very realistic.
The emergence of renewed scoring up front is going to happen.
To what degree idk but imo very noticeable & sustainable.
If the D corp can pull it together we will trend up.
The 2017-18 season will not be all doom n gloom.
What i do foresee is more tweaking & trades will come at the TDL.
The PP & scoring from D is our achilles heal obviously & where we need to focus on most. If OJ can force himself into the line-up thats a great sign. If not then 1 more year in Jr will be just fine. I'd love to project our picks next draft but its unrealistic & far far down the road. The immediate attention should be on our current roster & our prospects making big waves to push the vets. Lots has to happen & most likely we r a year or 2 away from getting out of the dungeon. |

I hearya but i believe we have no room & must live with what we have.
The prospects have time to develop with our roster as it now stands. |

Clean out is not an issue with so many expiring contracts next season.
Please provide examples where project players with no established NHL accomplishment (not prospects) had TDL value for picks?
If trades occur at TDL with players trying to earn NHL credit they are swapped for other project players for a change of talent type or position. Otherwise, their good performance is rewarded with an extension with their team. That eventually could lead to TDL value. |

Markstrom deserves a chance for sure, no question, he was kinda screwed over last year.
Gaunce imo was given his chance for 20 games in 2015 and 57 last year, the kid is horrific, we have to move on, it literally cant be any worst. I'd rather see the same amount of games/chance given to Archibald, Rodin or Labate. hell even Chaput is better.
Cassels is terrible, he's never been the same player since his ab injury. He'll never make it, not with guys like McEwen, Gadjovich, Virtanen, comnig through, even Valk or Kunyk should get a shot before him.
With the addition of Weircoich, Holm and OJ I don't see where Subban will ever fit in. I think Stetcher turned the lights out on his chance. Unless he shows some massive development this year. He'll be an AHL lifer like Pedan. - Brooks_Light
Markstrom was given a fair chance and didn't seize the opportunity, he is a mediocre goalie at best, you will get to see Markstrom the average soon enough.
Stecher is overrated by fans that can't see his defensive liabilities, he is the quintessential Benny Hill theme song of defense, running around not knowing what to do in his own zone.
I hope they give Subban a real chance like they did Stecher, he can't be worse defensively. And then make the judgement. |

Sure if there is a cap dump with a sweetener asset from a team trying to clear space to add a big time player. That would be a chance opportunity on cap space for a rebuilding team at TDL. But pump and dump is not a waste. You just don't believe anyone out there is worth it. Which is fine. Just like you were against Gagner signing pre-UFA period. All could prove you right. |

Yes this deserve stuff kills me. He gets what he earns it is the pros after all.
So far he has gotten what he has earned nothing more.
Stecher has spunk & determination & injuries helped him get on the roster.
Subban & Stecher r similar sort of but til he is not a defensive liability no.
He needs to make a huge improvement to be a specialist on the PP at best.
Injuries though r his oppurtunity & if TG saw anything in him in Utica. |

Let it go with this pump & dump stuff.
Yes i was against Gagner but that does not mean its not a solid signing given what we had & the woeful PP. At least he is a solid commodity not a plug. When it comes to a new coaching staff & JB unleashed from being a competitive PO team chaser it changes everything. We r treading water with Gagner & MDZ nothing more. They could be tradeable assets or stay while prospects develop & force the issue. Either way its a transition period & results based on who stays or is traded or promoted. |
