He signed a 3/3.6 deal and was constantly ridiculed as being too expensive for his role.

Had Sbisa been brought in as an UFA after a couple decent seasons I don't think he would of been ridiculed.

Sbisa and more specifically Benning ridiculed for calling him a top 4 defender, then doubled down signing him to that contract after he did not show well. To Sbisa's credit he improved and was a valuable player but he still hasn't lived up to his contract yet IMO. That's on Benning tho not him.

i guess mostly because he played with more offensively minded teams in CBJ and Edm, while Van struggles to score.

Well we had 6 players score over 30 points last year and two of them had long injuries. Gagner should score more than Daniel, baertchi and Granlund.

I'll take the over. I'd be shocked if doesn't score more than 30. 40 is probably a reasonably safe projection
