Matthews and Eichel are not close. Never have been, never will be. Get used to it Buf fans. AM34 scored 40 in his rookie year. Eichel is a star. Matthews is/will be a superstar. - BernardShakey
Thank you for proving his point in canadian. |

Not sure why you are on this Forum with that attitude. NHL is unlikely never able to have the success of the NBA. For most of us that's okay. The NHL has its playoffs each year. The first round matchups are dynamite. Upsets. New playoff heros each year. The NBA has its super teams where me first stars go to get their "ring". Big deal. Wanna bet Cleveland and GS are in the finals again next year? Why bother. The year after next Lebron will jump to the next team in his ultimate quest for a layup title. Why do fans fir 90% of the teams even bother? - BernardShakey
Because it's incredibly entertaining.
Didnt the Pens just win back to back cups?
Actually, havent the Pens, Hawks and Kings won most of the cups the last decade? Why should other fans bother then? |

Not even remotely close to the same thing
Most ppl didn't pick Pitt to win again this year,
or win at all last year
For a good part of the season, looked like they wouldn't even make the playoffs
The Cup this year was literally 1 goal away from being 13 seed vs 16 seed
Bad post dude
U totally missed the point

My feeble attempt at a discussion starter:
Who is the captain next year assuming that Gio is done?
My vote: RoR...would also accept Jack or KO
Thoughts? |

No, I got that point.
My point is that it's been the same few teams winning the Cups over the past decade
Since 2000
8 different NBA teams have won a title
10 different NHL teams have won a title.
Not this giant difference people like to pretend exists. |

Not too young? Worked for McDavid I know, but each case is different. He's never shown me anything that would suggest he's immature, but with older vets like RoR and Okposo here, you don't think he should wait? I believe he would be the 2nd youngest Captain in the league. |

I don't want Ryan O'Reilly or Okposo to be captain long term. They will both be here long term. So if you give it to them over Jack he won't get it unless they take it from ROR/Okposo which is unlikely.
It's Jack's team |

The only reason O'Reilly is regarded as a leader is because he's a hard worker. He's constantly talking about how he wants to be more of a leader (even in Buffalo). Leaders don't talk about leading they just lead lol |

He was the only one that called out the team usually it would be the kids just going through the motions and waiting for the season to be over and then maturing more he's already there he hates losing that's something you need for a captain |

There are plenty of teams that don't have their best player as captain. Chicago, Dallas, Florida, Colorado, Arizona(thought that's likely to change now that Doan is gone), Boston, San Jose, St Louis, Nashville, Toronto for years when "Kessler" was there, Calgary, is Barkov the captain in Florida? I don't think so, New Jersey, Winnipeg, arguably the Kings.
So 12 definites that don't have their best player as their captain.
Edit: And in almost all of those situations it's a "good Canadian boy" that's captain. |

I was thinking that if OK or RoR got it, there could be a conversation about the fact that they were an interim captain until Jack "came of age". I can definitely seeing it go your way and wouldn't be upset at it. Perhaps it's wishful thinking to expect a player to accept the C knowing it'll be stripped in the future.
Jack is certainly the face of the franchise. |
