It doesn't, well not totally, I'm just saying that the best player doesn't have to be the captain. And there are a lot of cases where it works better that way. Where it does matter is that ROR is a "good Canadian boy", and regardless of the fact that Housley is American it's still a strong pull to name a Canadian your captain. He, at present, is more captain material than Jack is as well.

Again, it's no slight to Jack, Pat Kane is a top 3-5 player in the league and he's not captain, but for a "good Canadian boy".

He was the only one that called out the team usually it would be the kids just going through the motions and waiting for the season to be over and then maturing more he's already there he hates losing that's something you need for a captain

100% agree about the winning mentality. You can see the kid just despises losing. At the same point, should that have been said to the media or talked about amongst the team/coaches? As a captain there's a certain assumption that "what happens in the room stays in the room"...

It all got blown out of proportion with the "Jack fired TM" stuff, but he may well have been a catalyst there.

I honestly don't care because I think either would be a good choice, and I don't think either player could reasonably view it as a slight if the other were chosen. If Jack has an A instead of a C, he can still be a leader. If he has no letter at all, he can still be a leader. Same with ROR. The only thing the letter does is designate which players can talk to the refs about the the rules during the game.

A good leader will lead regardless.
