Okay will give you benefit of doubt this isn't to pull my leg.
I'm no spring chicken but pump and dump is a universally used hockey phrase for building up a player to trade them.
Throwing shade is out of the urban lexicon
http://www.urbandictionar...ne.php?term=throw%20shade - Nuck4U
No I wasn't pulling your leg, and I guess there could be some people of an older age that like to use trendy phrases, I'm not one, and I'm not someone that looks to the urban dictionary, so I'll stay in the dark on the "throwing shade out phrase also.
I will also admit that I've not seen pump and dump until you started using it quite frequently. I grew up in a household where my father was involved in hockey at a high end level and I've not once heard the phrase.

I don't care how many times it's written, goldy or guddy or granny, I think it's childish, lazy and disrespectful and I will continue to write their proper surnames to the best of my ability. - Makita

You should tell all them NHL players to cut it out. How dare they do that. - Nuck4U
They are peers, you are not.
If one of my peers said Hey Mak, I would be ok.
If someone I didn't know addresses me as Maky, I'd ensure it wouldn't happen again. |

People in sports and entertainment allow it all the time by fans. As fans we just go by their norms. If you want to apply old school social norms that's your prerogative but not your right of judgment on others. |

The threads are full of posters using the phrase. I used it one day in a couple of post exchanges with Nighthawk and it became your new thing to bring up. So I went with the joke in subsequent threads. |

That works too like EP and BB but some it sticks better like Goldy. In short hand posting it comes handy. |

Why isn't it my right to question the bastardization of the language.
If your statement is to be literal, then you shouldn't pass judgment or question Trump, environmentalist should shut up and not pass judgement on Enbridge, we should never make judgments on hockey players or coaches.
Or is there a governing body that dictates what as humans we are allowed to pass judgement on?
That's it for awhile, time for a beer and to pass judgement whether it's a quality brew or not....that's still permissible I hope. |

I dunno, I am still not a fan. Hockey nicknames in general are awful, so having it brought up more often is painful to me. Like when the Canuck locker room nicknames were leaked and people started referring to Bieksa as Juice, Edler as Eagle, Hansen as Honey Badger etc. just cringe worthy to hear people outside the circle say those names |
