especially considering Nashville just gave Bonino a 2c contract to replace fisher, clearly they think a centre is more than just points.
If Horvat beats guys in faceoffs over half the time, can play against any line in the NHL, and puts up 50+ points, how is he not a top 6 centre? I don't get why people peg him as a 3c guy. They say he's not a playmaker but he had plenty of pretty passes, plenty of good rushes this season. Chemistry with wingers seems to dictate whether a guy is a 1c or a 2c on most teams, and Bo looks good with anyone.
Haters will hate, I love me some Bo Horvat. He will be the 1c and the future captain of this team for a long time. - Crazybagoham
Isn't Mike Fisher like 50 years old? |

Layout the roles of TL JB & TG instead of hypothetical diggings for replies.
I state my case can u? Stop dancing & give some meat & potatoes. - Nighthawk
I did. Thunda added. No digs. You say JB & TL dicatate roster from camp. I say they all work on it together. Usually coaches provide a list of who makes the cut. Then discussions ensue with management of what is workable. You say JB does it all and may ask coaches to give opinion on players he's not sure about. Even the draft doesn't work that way let alone camp roster decisions. When articles are reported from camp then you will see how it's done. |

I might be the most optimistic type in here but this is not a PO team.
What we do have is a fun Utica team to whet our appetites.
2018-19 will be the most exciting year coming up. - Nighthawk
Yeah you would have to see both goalies play great.
MDZ have a 40 point season.
Loui back to 60 points.
Bo, Baert, Granlund all have an increase in production
Sedin's, Gagner, Sutter all keep their same production
Boeser put up 40-50 points.
Gaunce score a goal.
Only one injury at a time.
Edler become a physical force
Gudbranson play all 82 games.
I mean I don't think it's asking too much.... right?

Tyvm now can Nuck4U explain this to me pls - Nighthawk
Okay to explain more. See scenario on how the relationship of roles interact in coming up with roster. This one is based on hypothetical of bubble players.
Coaching says Rodin earned it proving he can score now more then BB.
TL weighs in. BB garners interest. Sells more tickets. Markets team better.
JB says we need BB to develop his game. Asks what role could he play?
Coaching respods if we make room to play them both then Gaunce is out.
JB seeks input from his professional scouts on other teams to factor in waivers. Then JB asks coaching what can you live with to start the season?
JB decides okay waive Gaunce and BB makes roster with Rodin. |

That's where optimism excels over expectation. The Laffs had no injuries and all their rookies and players had career years last season when the expectation was pain. So who who knows if this list is untenable. Realistically no. But that's why they play the games. There are factors not on your list that can come in to play. To outweigh what isn't gained on your list and make up ground not foreseen. |

I know it may happen though. Maybe like a 5-2 game and the other team pulls the goalie with 6:30 minutes left in the game and he shoots and it bounces off a defender and into the net. |

It wasn't about downplaying the list. The list was pretty much a joke, it was sarcasm. You turned it into something real.
To answer your question most of those things I listed aren't attainable for the team.
As for the leafs. Pretty simple, they had a bunch of players who were ripening in the minors. Added in 3 elite hockey players to a core that they had been building for the past 9 years. |

When Bo was drafted the pundits said his ceiling was a good 3C. His skating and offensive game wasn't good enough for top 6. Seems we have come full circle. Bo will just push himself and prove what Bo can do not what he can't do. - Nuck4U
who cares what the pundits said? many in the know already knew at that point he was better than his consensus projections |

He is a 2nd line centre. I hope he makes #1 but on a SC winning team right at this very moment he is only a 3rd line centre. We were talking hypotheticals.
Some here don't think Bo will ever be a legitimate #1 centre. I am not of that group but right now I want a bridge deal. He still needs to prove. - thundachunk
thats cool because a 1c costs 10+ now anyway |
