I'd swap ROR and Nylander, but close to the same.
Why are people saying we need a "contingency plan this year or next" for our 6th most important forward?
If he leaves, he leaves. He will be replaced.
ROR leaving would need a contingency plan - sbroads24

In 3 years we'll be fine, hopefully. It's the interim that I'm concerned about. |

What a surprise
you're talking about Kane... AGAIN
The order of importance is Eichel/O'Reilly
And then all the others are mixed into the same grouping
The reason Kane is important is bc he's a SCORER
Mittelstadt & Nylander could turn out to be more the playmaker variety 20goal type players instead of 30+
And the other guys...
we just don't know if Bailey, Baptiste, etc can score at this level
Most importantly...
are we really supposed to struggle for the next 2 years or so while these guys develop into scorers?
It's time to start winning NOW |

Agreed. Not very common to see personal letters or blogs written by players outside of the Players Tribune. - TheSabresTaco
I'm pretty sure those aren't written by the players either. The material and the sentiment, sure, but they all sound the same, like the same 1 or 2 people write them. Read a bunch of them back to back and you'll see what I mean. |

That's why you sign guys like Pouliot and trade for short term contracts like Pominville. For the stop-gaps.
If I thought Kane would be a neccessary 25-30 goal guys for the next 5/6 years, I'd be more open to the thought of re-signing him.
But in reality, you can count on him scoring that much maybe 2 of the 5 or 6 years. He's also not going to get healthier as he approaches his 30's.
In all honesty, if he would sign a 2 year 12 mil deal, I'd sign him today |

It's so tough to tell what we have coming though...
How long ago was it that most of us though Armia was a sniper and Grigo & Girgs would be our top2 Centers? |

Sure, but if we have Kane occupying a roster spot and a decent chunk of cap, are we going to have room to find out if they can play or not?
This year is going to decide a lot.
If Kane blows up, and Nylander has a dissapointing season, and Middlestadt doesnt look like he will be one and done, maybe the convo changes. |

I'm going to be shocked if Kane doesnt blow up and counting on Nylander not being good. He won't be as good as his brother. Mittelstadt is a complete non factor in the decion making regardless of what he does this year. Kane will be awesome this year, but my crystal ball is too cloudy to tell if he will be a Sabre next year. If not, they better have a contingency plan because that is going to be a lot of goals to replace by one player in today's NHL. Can you say Cam Atkinson? |

If he stays healthy and plays 82 I expect 28-30 goals.
If he misses his usual 10 or so games, and his shooting % goes back to his career avg, he will have about 20-24, give or take a goal or so.

Do you know what sickens me on this site? the constant defamation of a persons character. Unless people have a picture of somebody doing what you accuse them of, or you are the person who sells them the stuff you accuse them of doing, then I wish you all would shut the hell up. - macman9

I've seen Murray on his stool at Bada Bing. I don't have a picture, neither did I sell it to him.
Does that count? |

We should have gotten Smith from San Fransico, I'm still baffled KC got him so cheap and that we had no part in trying to trade for him. The guy is a fantastic game manager and just look at SF now. |
