Ok. There's a strong chance Eichel isn't "generational" though. I think Pasternak could end up having the better career

Another slick move by our slick GM.
- TheSabresTaco

Yup $4 million for a starter is nothing and the Sabres keep control since he will still be a RFA. Time to prove it for Lehner

so you have roughly 7-8 mil left for this season

is there a player you target who has 1 year left, over priced

nash via trade
carlson
green

sign iggy or jagr to a 1 year deal

etc

If you can get said player (Nash) on the cheap yes.

I would try to sign Jagr or Vanek at this point. It's not ideal but it also gives the kids some time together in Rochester under the new system as well.

w/ Bowl latvian and erod signed, you're looking at probably 7ish M. I think the roster is pretty much set at this point, allowing one, possibly two positions to be fought for in training camp.

Nash, not sure what his value is but I don't think there's a player on our roster that NY would want for him. That we'd give up for Nash.

Carlson, good (frank)ing luck. I'd use any complimentary player on this team but they'll never get rid of him w/o an overpayment.

Green....woof.

Iggy moves like molasses.

Jagr would be fun. Takes away a spot for youth, but offers a unique relationship and can still score.

Btw after epsiode 1 of Legion it's up there with stranger things it was so (frank)ing good

I will agree with you on Legion. Season one was incredible. Can't wait for #2.

Nothing on tv now compares to Twin Peaks. In a class of its own. Storytelling of a higher order.

what's the next option after this year?

Ullmark?

I don't know if he's ready.

Considering they brought Johnson back so they could have Ullmark in Rochester for 1 more year, I doubt they'd all of a sudden be looking at him to be the starter the following season.

I really don't understand the hate on Lehner from some people. He put up very respectable numbers on a team that was less than respectable in a lot of a ways.

but.. but.. shootouts and we gave up a first for him.. oh and we didn't win with him.

even though we couldn't score worth a damn but lets ignore that for now

i would guess if it comes to that we are splitting it fairly close to 50/50 between him and johnson early on to see who is going to be the better option.

I think it was more or less their way of having a solid presence in net in Rochester next year.

I'm pretty sure he's more than ready to be at the NHL level, but Botts wants to build a winner in the AHL as well. Having a solid starter there is a good part of that puzzle.

I think he could be the backup this year, but another year of seasoning will be good.

full time starter in roch while johansson gets eased in is not a bad thing..

He's got the eligibility to go to the AHL without having to clear waivers. So why have him sitting here on the bench getting one of every 4 or 5 games when he can play the majority of them in the A? Makes sense to me for this year.

it's not like they're thinking he's not ready and having to expose him to waivers or something. That would be cause for concern in terms of his development and all that. But this seems like a pretty normal thing at this point.

Exactly. It's not like they don't have confidence in him. If that were the case, I don't think Botts would have been all that upset about losing him in the expansion draft and since they gave up a pick to help ensure that Vegas didn't take him, that tells you they think he's worth keeping around.

It's kind of hard to score when your goalie let's in three to four goals in some night in what maybe 30 some games. He just gets rid of the energy when they start going and then they just give up
