Let's see how Gaunce's season plays out before we start labeling 'best pick ever'. - Marwood
The three of the four best forwards to ever play for the Canucks were taken 2nd, 2nd and 3rd overall. That's not an accident. Linden, Henrik and Daniel...only Bure was better and that was a bit of smoke and mirrors when they drafted him.

I wouldnt be surprised if more of them had a cup of coffee with either team... some obscure names to learn before 2018
I get what you are saying....up to a point. I chat with many an NHL'er here at my pro camps at my Arena in the summers and many claim what they get from MNGT and Coaching are two very different things. I get the fact that it is mostly performance based as it should be...but if people on here are naïve enough to think there is no back door stuff going on well...they may wanna find a different hobby to blog on. I'm not saying it's 100% accurate...but I'm willing to accept that it does happen to a certain extent.
As for WD I will respectfully say that I do think he panicked a bit and it showed a little of his inexperience last season. Instead of leaving Eriksson on the Sedin line to actually get some chemistry going and play out of his slump(s)...he bounced him all over the lines to a point where he could never get comfortable. Pretty hard to perform when you have different linemates every 6th game. Man it was starting to look like a John Gibbons Blue Jay Roster where he changes the lineup card every game. No way the players can get in to comfort levels when they have no clue where they are hitting every game and I think this had much to do with LE's performance levels last season. I'm hoping Green uses LE 'properly' and we will see results.
I know this is a dead horse and all but we had to know we were in trouble with WD when he had Bro Hovat (our best player from the past half of the previous season) starting on a line with Burrows and Dorsett. Many here defended it but it was one of the stupidest coaching moves I had ever seen...and I have defended WD a lot in the past. I just wish that WD would have kept Eriksson on the Sedin line longer to build chemistry and play out of his slump. Considering all of the line-juggling done after the 10th or 12th game of last season I have to say that WD 'may' have been panicking a bit...but a lot of it was also just blatant coaching inexperience that the NHL level. - LordHumungous
I believe that there are back room deals going on for sure, that's why I stated Benning gave them a sales job to get them to sign. Why would the GM put up with incompetence in a coach? Wouldn't you fire someone that you felt was hurting your star player(s)

I wonder if that is a small part of why they havent committed to a team yet. Without knowing if exceptions will be made for Olympic participation and no guarantee on an NHL job, might be worth holding out for

Saw a headline this morning stating that they are looking at them.
Without NHL players, I couldn't give a flying f*ck about the Olympics. - Marwood
They should have an age restriction or something.
I like the Olympics with NHL players, but the Olympics are a joke when you look at the intention- amateur competition and good will sort of stuff. Politics, greed and steroids is the driving force.

Burke seemed to be throwing it out there that there's been players of that ilk calling him with interest

I did see a comment like that and wondered how many recently retired guys might be working on a comeback for it, like St.Louis, Lecavalier, or Brad Richards

Like I said, if it's not NHL players playing against each other then I simply don't & won't care.
Now, if Gaunce was going... - Marwood
I will follow out of curiousity but the likelihood I watch a game, given the time difference and poor rosters, will make it almost zero. I will give it the same attention I give the Spengler Cup, which is the highlight pack
I am curious/hopeful that some top junior or college kids go, that would give me slightly more interest

If guance was going the other teams would fold and give us the gold medal before the games begin.
With WD coaching a team for the first time, they're going to be dynamite. Kinda Like giving the world's greatest assassin a pen, he's going to (frank) up all those sword wielding barbarians.

Alright, I have officially had enough, one more post from you, pres.cup, or Nuck4U that is derogatory to each other and you each can expect a two week ban, after that it goes to a month, then three months.
I don't even want to see anyone of you try to explain that the other guy started it, you did nothing, I allow things to get out of hand, nothing...and don't send any PM's either, grow up FFS
I get any push back and you're gone, period. - Makita
