problem is this team is going to be north south team with quick outlet passes

bogo and gorges don't fit that style

All about the Markov train...especially if they can move Gorges and or Bogo (both would be great)
- Stripes77

I don't think you can add him without getting rid of at least one of them.

The one year deal for Lehner is optimal. Personally, I wouldn't have cared if it was $6 million for 1 year, as term is more important than salary in this team's current state.

The best case scenario would be that Lehner has a far above average year, and gains significant trade value next year.

wait a minute jr

you said

Robin was playing in the system where you played defense the whole game yet he sucked ass

How do you guys think he's going to play in Housley system hahaha
- GERBE!!!75PTS

How many first round pick goalies worked in those 35 years ?

Yet we decided just throw one away..

If we had Miller we be in the playoffs so no I'm not

Just stop please .. all I said is if Miller was here we'd be in the playoffs and that's true and you can't be robin Homer and say it's not true

of course you go right to the Miller of last year I'm talking about the Miller the old days but ofyou just do your thing.

And who cares if you did this shoulders slump what goalie doesn't do that ? Carey Price does it all the time

and this gem
But we did overpay you basically traded a number two defenseman or a first-line player for a guy that's average

I think that Housley can get far more out of Bogosian than anyone else the Sabres have had while he was here. However, he still won't get anywhere near enough to justify that price tag of his.

Why is that the best case scenario?

Why is it not that Lehner plays extremely well and earns a longer term deal to be the starter here?

Everyone complains that we never keep the good players but now wants them to get good so we can trade them for a better return?

Not counting the 2 short seasons and the 2 tank years the Sabres 201 goals scored were tied for the 2nd least they have scored all time with...the 2015-2016 season...

The least amount of goals scored in a regular season (full season non tank years) were 190 in 02-03

Hasek got more goal support than Lehner and company did the last two years...

- Stripes77

Last season's numbers are a little skewed though. Sans Jack Eichel for the first two plus months really had them playing in a shell.

I just don't see him ever playing well enough, long enough to warrant a long term contract, not at the salary he will command when he does. I'd rather let someone else pay it.

Still they had Eichel the entire year before and only put in 201...

Skewed or not I am sure I could dig through all of the years and find injuries (Lafontaine rings a bell).

Fact is 201 goals scored is pathetic and even in the first Nolan years with Hasek the team scored more.

Next year will be 2 years of Lehner being completely healthy.

If there is another .920ish year with more wins and a few shootout wins what more could you possibly want from him?

$5.5 million for 3-4 years

I still think the biggest need is LW, and this keeping Kane for this year

Nash
JVR (costs a lot)
Landeskog (I would overpay for him)
Zucker
Burakovsky

I'd be okay with that, but I also think with those stats, there would be at least one or two other GMs desperate to pay him even more than that.

Which is why someone would trade for him next offseason.
